With this resurgence, Midori set off to get into some of that juicy marketing opportunity, and began development of their next generation of their fabled sports hatch, the Kawai. In 2017 at a Japanese press conference, Midori revealed the Kawai. The new Kawai came with all the bells and whistles necessary, while also keeping the price low, and keeping the car fun. The 2017 Kawai featured the refurbished and redeveloped KTi4 engine, equipped with great technology that allowed the Kawai to save a lot of fuel, especially at lower rpms. The Kawai got great gas mileage, as it had done consistently in the past years, and once again did not disappoint buyers. It weighed in at 1224 KG, featured a 6-speed manual and auto option, and the engine delivered around 350 lb-ft of torque.
