I ranted abt this on my prf but this will go into more detail. so jess has an honor of being the host of one of the biggest scr studios. when she went ia, she also stopped taking care of her responsibilities as host of the aes comm. even though scr isn’t her life (I understand that) she could’ve at least a. given us a heads up. b. given us an active host. and c. taken care of the aes comm so it didn’t fall into chaos, which is what it did while she was ia. on the active host topic, she is also super possessive over the comm if you haven’t noticed. she once said “i would promote one of you but I don’t like y’all so” or smthn along the lines of that. there is the idea of host rotations, nd if that happened, mb the aes comm cld have a change in how it’s run. rant 2. kk so this rant is abt ageism on scr. the definition of ageism is “prejudice or discrimination on the grounds of a person's age”. this topic is esp important to me bc I’ve faced ageism here on scr (and a few times on b0ard). you ppl accept this stuff like !? this site is for kids 8-16 so the aes comm is no different. here’s some quotes from the comm guidelines: “We welcome people of a̲l̲l̲ a̲g̲e̲s̲, races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities.” “It’s never OK to attack a p̲e̲r̲s̲o̲n̲ o̲r̲ g̲r̲o̲u̲p̲’s̲ i̲d̲e̲n̲t̲i̲t̲y̲ or to be unkind to someone about their background or interests.” as the quotes above state, discrimination is not allowed on scratch. this includes ageism. ok now I’m gonna talk abt my personal experiences with ageism (keep in mind while reading this im in 5th grade, aka a perfectly acceptable age to be on scr) “ managers should be at least 12 ” sry what? ahem ahem ahem ahem *blinks twice* yep that’s what it says, nd guess what ? the person saying this had been ageist to me before. I replied saying that that’s toxic, nd they replied with “how?” I explained how nd said “scr is literally for 8 year olds, it’s not fair for you to be telling ppl that they can’t be manager js bc they’re younger than you” bc it’s not. personally Ik ppl who would make good managers that are younger than 12. someone else said “But kids younger than 12 mostly cannot handle maintaining a huge comm tho! /lh” th? I’m in 5th grade right? I learn math at a 7th grade level. bet you don’t know any 5th graders who can tell you what x equals in 5x+8 = 15. (it’s 1.4 btw) in fact, the person being ageist (the first one) is in 7th grade lmao. ok another time on the prn psa b0ard ppl were talking abt immature 10 y/os (I was very annoyed and triggered) nd I said (bc I’m genderfae) tht I only change my prns every week-month (I had mentioned in my form tht I was genderfae but ig they didn’t read tht) nd someone who I rly wanna call out by user but I’m worried I’ll get attacked if I do said “younger kids can change their prns but not every [censored] WEEK it’s too much” th!? I’m literally genderfae wth do you expect me to do!? they shut up after that but the fact that it was a lesbian being pretty much unintentionally h0m0ph0b!c was so funny to me. another instance of ageism was when my friend when we were first getting to know each other said that they were in middle skl, but didn’t say which grade. after I told them I was in 5th grade, they told me in secret that they were the same age as I was. they were worried I was older and wouldn’t want to be friends with them. idk why ppl act like ageism is acceptable in society, bc it isn’t. rant 3. ok now we begin the shorter rants: this one is about toxic friend grps. so there’s this friend grp of very popular idols in the aes comm, nd some of them are managers. they act kinda like they own the aes comm, and once used it to talk abt their friend grp as though it were a friend studio. newsflash: it’s not. the aes comm is not a friend studio, it’s a studio for the aes comm to talk to the entire aes comm and a place where all members are included. rant 4. on the topic of toxic managers, I noticed that the popular idols all got promoted. strange isn’t it? and the day they got promoted, they were flaunting it, which rly bugged me. all you get as a manager is a title and a whole lot of responsibility, which is why I personally don’t want to be a manager and would rather be known as a helpful curator. ppl might say I’m just jealous, but I mostly just think that the new managers aren’t wearing the title well. rant 5. now we move into the irl rants: my friend grp irl can sometimes be kinda not understanding. so the person I’m talking abt today will be called cinderella. so cinderella is one of my close friends, but she sometimes feels distant from me. like when I tell her smthn I did or saw that I think is cool, she js responds with “tHaT’s NiCe SwEeTiE”.
