One day during lunch my principal started talking about middle schoolers clothing. How "you don't see him coming to school in tank tops and shorts." and to not wear anything that's "distracting and disrupting yourself and others around you from schoolwork ( a little creepy coming from someone who has bean charged with sexu@l @ssu@lt). The next day he was wearing shorts instead of his usual suit and tie *facepalm. I know two girls got dress coded super suddenly the day after that little talk. One of them was literally yelled at for wearing a tank top even though it's not a new thing, people have been wearing shorts and tank tops all year with no issue. And the principal is starting to force the other teachers to give us "warnings" and to cover up if we have the tiniest bit of stomach showing. The boys in my grade war shorts every day but now that the girls are starting to wear shorts because we have had a couple of 70+ degree days it's wrong???? And it's def not evenly enforced through the girls either... But the worst part is the dress code is actually lenient, not at all like how our principal is making it seem. As long as we don't wear anything offensive, anything with like you know the happy substances, or anything profane, we can basically wear whatever we want (as longs as it's reasonable, like no super sheer fabrics or showing certain body parts). On Tuesday, the girls in my grade are planning to wear tank tops and shorts to kind of go against the unfair and unreasonable fake dress code enforcement. - Kayla out
