Genevieve’s Secret Chapter 13 Felix walked towards and I felt numb. He wouldn’t hurt us, would he? My back hit the wall and I felt like I was going to collapse, when I heard “Incarcerous!” from behind Felix. Felix fell to the ground, bound in ropes. Adalaide dragged me away from Felix and Nathaniel spoke to her, but I wasn’t paying attention. I was too scared of what could’ve been. Felix got expelled from school, of course. I felt a bit better after the girls cheered me up after the dance. Around two weeks later… It had been a while since the dance and I was feeling better. We had had a Hogsmeade trip. Adalaide became a permanent Chaser on the Ravenclaw team. And that’s pretty much it. One day, I came back into my dorm after classes and on my bed, was a note written in blood. I read over it and stressed out. The Rulers of the Multiverse were going to punish me? For what? I’m in duplicates of the universes, not the real ones. Maybe they just didn’t understand it… I went to find the girls. I found them in the library. I overheard them saying almost the exact words that were on my note. I came into the Library and frantically asked, “Did you guys also get a note written in blood?” “Blood?” Avery asked. “Mine is just written in ink,” Arina said. I couldn’t control my breathing, then I blacked out. I woke up in the hospital where the girls questioned me. I refused to speak. The next day, I got into an arguement with Adalaide about staying at Hogwarts or leaving. Professor McGonagall made me come with her to her office. “Genevieve, what is going on? If this is a danger to the school, then tell me. We will set up stuff to keep everyone,” Professor McGonagall said. “Everyone will be safer if I’m gone,” I said. Her face fell and she let me go. I didn’t talk to anyone for the rest of the day. I found a piece of paper on my bed when I woke up. I didn’t want to read it so I just stuffed it in my pocket. I ate breakfast until Adalaide caught my attention. “I can’t find her anywhere!” Adalaide excaimed. “She can’t have just disappeared!” Lily exclaimed. I scanned our group and saw that Avery was missing. I took the note from before out of my pocket with shaky hands and said, “This might be what they meant by ‘also punished.’” “Genevieve, what is going on?” Adalaide asked. “I need to go,” I said. “Then, I’m coming with you,” Adalaide said. “So am I,” Evelyn said, standing up, “Avery is my best friend and I’m not standing around while she is in potential danger.” “I’m coming too,” said Lily. “It’s my sister,” said Arina. “You can’t come!” I exclaimed, “You don’t even know where I’m going.” “Then, I‘ll follow you!” Adalaide said. “I’m not letting my little sister go alone,” Athena said. “We’re coming too,” Henry said, who’d just walked up to us with the rest of the Markinsons. “UGH! Don’t you need to stay and study for your exams?!” I exclaimed. “Avery is more important than exams,” Arina said. I finally gave in and gave them the note I found on my bed this morning. “Who are we even dealing with?” Henry asked. “The rulers of something much bigger than us,” I replied. “Ahem, what are you kids doing?” Professor McGonagall said, walking up to us. “Um, well, Avery’s missing and we were thinking about how to find her,” Carrie said. “Avery’s missing?!” Professor McGonagall exclaimed, “Where would she be?” “Well, we are trying to figure that out,” Adalaide said. “Let the adults handle this,” Professor McGonagall said, walking away. Quote Uncle Stripe from Bluey, I said, “Yeah, that’s not going to happen mate.” In an Australian accent once she was out of earshot.
