120 years since the first Anzac’s
For those who don’t know, Anzac Day is a very important day in the Australian culture, for it is the day that we commemorate and remember the soldiers that fought for Australia and New Zealand in the First World War. One of the major battles that Anzac Day reflects on the landing at Gallipoli, during this battle, the energy ambushed soldiers as they were landing at the beach. This turned out to be the 11th deadliest battle in the whole of ww1 with over 470,000 people losing their lives. Every Anzac Day we have a moment of silence signalled by the playing of the last post. We remember the anzacs by repeating the ode: They shall not grow old As we that are lest grow old Age shall not weary them Nor the years condemned But at the going down of the sun And in the morning, We will remember them Lest we forget.
