Chapter6: I stepped out of Dumbledore's office, unable to believe what I had just heard. The news hit me hard—I had always assumed I was from a well-known pureblood family, but it seemed that wasn't the case. Neither of my parents were pure-bloods. I wanted to vomit. As I closed the heavy wooden door behind me, I could feel the weight of Snape's and Dumbledore's gazes on my back, adding to the confusion and disbelief swirling inside me. As I made my way through the dimly lit corridors of Hogwarts, I found solace in the familiar surroundings of the dungeons. The atmosphere there always had a comforting, almost soothing effect on me. When I finally entered the Slytherin common room, I was taken aback to see Daphne Greengrass seated regally on one of the plush, velvet, green couches, her expression unreadable. As I took a seat beside her, I leaned in and softly murmured a warm "Hey." Uncertain of her feelings towards me, I was determined to extend kindness her way, regardless of the potential for conflict between us. Her captivating presence, marked by her jet-black hair standing out against her fair complexion and piercing blue eyes, stirred a hint of insecurity within me. I approached her and she greeted me with a simple "Hey." Her response put me at ease, as I could tell she was nothing like Pansy. "What brings you here?" I inquired, knowing it was 4th period. "Honestly, I couldn't stand being in Charms anymore. I sat next to Pansy Parkinson, and she was being insufferable. I decided to leave," she explained. I was surprised to find that we shared a dislike for Pansy. "I felt the same way. I was actually supposed to be in Charms too," I admitted. Then, out of curiosity, I asked, "What was Pansy up to this time?" We both chuckled as she recounted Pansy's latest boast about her parents giving her $100 every week. "She truly believes she's special, but she's not," I remarked, and Daphne nodded in agreement. "Do you want to come up with some pranks to play on her? Pranks are so fun, especially on people like her" I suggested, and Daphne's eyes lit up at the idea. "Yes, I love pranks!" Daphne responded. I honestly found pranking people to be quite enjoyable. "Ok, so are you thinking of more of a "Honey in her hair" type of prank, or like an "I'm in love with you letter from Draco"?" I asked. "We definitely need to do both. What if, tomorrow, we prank her like 10 times?" I excitedly smiled, "Yess!" Then, while everyone was still in class, we started preparing for an exciting day of pranks. We didn't need to go to the fifth period since we both had a free period, so we ended up with the full 10 pranks fully planned by the end of the day. Sure, we were behind in school. But it was so worth it. "I can't wait for us to wipe the smug smile off Pansy's face and replace it with tears," I chuckled. I know some people would consider that "mean" and us being "bullies" but really, all Slytherins were like us. Right? I felt a little guilty for enjoying this, but I just told myself it was fine. It was just a joke, I'm sure Pansy could handle it. The first day of the term had definitely been exciting. The day started off wonderfully with everything going according to plan. However, things took a turn for the worse, and it seemed like everything was falling apart. But miraculously, the situation improved, and the day ended on a positive note, making it one of the best days after all. I was so excited for this year.
