Julie strolled along the neighborhood pathway, humming to herself watching her neighbors have a happy time. Looking up, she saw the sky was dimming a bright shade of orange, a sign that Wally Darling’s housewarming party was going to star soon. Near the end of the corner, she would stop and he’d into the neighborhood post office. Inside she could see Eddie Dear wrapping up presents with colorful paper. Julie: Oh hi there Eddie! Getting ready for the party? Eddie: Yes Julie, I was just about to head off to Wally’s. Would you like me to do anything for you? Julie: Yes please! Could you please send this off to Barnaby as soon as possible with a cherry on top??? Eddie: Sure thing! Just make sure to save me a cookie at the party. Julie: Thank you Eddie! As Julie exited the post office and starting to stroll home, she checked her watch, 5:55! The party was going to start in 5 minutes. With all her might, Julie dashed straight home, snatched all the baked goods she fabricated, turned off the light revealing the kitchen full of batter spills and cooking equipment, and locked her door shut. As Julie speedwalked to Wally’s, she saw the sky was an unpleasant red, giving an eerie shadow on the neighborhood. Finally, when she she made it to Wally’s, she was pleased to see she made it on time. As Home welcomed her inside, She saw all her neighbors partying away. She set all her baked goods on Wally’s kitchen table, and went to chat with the others. After sometime, Sally cam up to her. Sally: Hey Julie! Have you seen Frank? Julie: No. Why? Sally: Well he said he was gonna come and I haven’t seen him at all today! Im scared! Julie: Oh! That’s odd. Normally he comes to every single gathering, why not this one? Sally: I dunno, but I’m gonna go to his house to check up on him. See ya! Julie: Bye! Hours pass, and Wally stands on top of the couch. Wally: Hello there neighbors and friends! I would like to thank you all for coming and supporting the new renovations for me and Home. The neighbors cheer, but Wally makes them pause. Wally: In fact, we enjoyed your company so much that we want you to stay here. Forever. Forever. With Me. Forever. As Wally finishes his last sentence, his face turns all dark, his hairpins fall out, and Home starts shaking. A black goo-like substance starts to emerge from the ceiling, oozing all over Wally before sucking him in. Immediately the neighbors start to run away and try to escape, but Home won’t let them at all. They must stay. When all the neighbors found an exit, an open window in the crawl space, 1 neighbor stops them from advancing. Barnaby. Poppy: Barnaby darlin’! Why won’t you let us leave! We better escape while we still can tuts! Barnaby: This is what Wally wanted. Right neighbors? Barnaby pushed Poppy away from the rest of the neighbors, and is soon swallowed by the goop. This creates a panic among the rest of the neighbors except Barnaby. As much as they plead to go, no one is able to pass. Eventually, there are only 2 neighbors and ex-friends, Barnaby and Julie. Julie: Barnaby! You can’t do this! What has gotten into you! Barnaby: Nothin Julie, it’s up just the fact that you were the closest to Wally out of all of us, yet you are still not proceeding to do as he wanted. Julie: Well, maybe this isn’t what he wanted! Julie would then wrap Barnaby’s tie around his neck tightly, and punch him in the back. With Barnaby stunned, Julie ran for her life, and escaped home. Julie looked around, seeing the black ooze spreading and covering different surfaces of the neighborhood, including her house. As the goop started to notice her she ran with all her might, and when she was almost in a dead end, she found something strange at Frank’s vegetable patch, could it be, a bunker? End of chapter 1.
