Vega felt the rays of the sun dance on his skin as the light began to wake him up. He sat up in his bed and shook out his blue and green wings, sitting there sleepily before it hit him. A large wave of excitement slammed into him, his brother was supposed to help him learn to fly around the jungle today! He hopped out of bed and ran out, rushing past his baby sister’s room, but stopped to peer in. His little sister, Sonea, was only one year old, but still as energetic as ever. but she lay asleep at the moment. He smiled softly and whispered, “Sleep well, Star.” A raspy, deep voice greeted him with enthusiasm, “Hey Veg! Ready to feel some fresh jungle air on those little wings?” Apollo wore his usual attire of a dark, tree-brown trench coat, dark grey shirt, grey-brown pants, and his mother’s bracelet. His wings were a shade of green that faded to a lighter shade, which shimmered with speckled, white dots in the sunlight. “Yeah!” Vega childishly cheered, jumping around in the hallway of their nest. “Boys, please promise me you will be careful! You know Troodons are after us and they won't just ask you for the location of the treasure.” Their mother, Minty, warned. She was always deeply cautious when it came to them leaving, especially flying. In unison, the boys answered with a groan, “We know!” “Mom! I'm seventeen, Vega is seven, we’ll be fine if we stay in the treelines.” Apollo explained softly, not wanting to get into an argument over this again. Minty sighed and approached them as the boys made their way down the stairs. “I know, it’s just dangerous. You know how unhappy the Troodons are with us. It’s my job as your mother and guardian to keep harm away.”. She gently hugged Apollo as she let out a long exhale. The eldest brother nodded and held her close before letting go.
