Fake Fate - Chapter Four

Zera frowned, "What?" She asked, confused. Shimmer didn't return though. Snow grumbled something under her breath before saying, "I do hope this won't take too long. I was enjoying my nap." Bubble was the only one who looked excited. "Okay. Okay. Maybe there's something we need to do. Some secret code or whatnot. What if-" He broke off as a black raven flew out of the trees. "Ah! There you are!" He said, landing on a rock in front of them. "I'm Reflection. You must be Zera, Snow, and Bubble. Alright. Let me explain the rules. You are on a quest. I'm not allowed to tell you what to do in this quest. The rules are simple there's only three. One, if you forfeit, you lose your chance to ever be an Elder. Two, don't attack each other, this will cause you to get disqualified. Three, don't contact your families during the quest. There will be time after." Reflection closed his beak then looked at them. "Any questions?" Zera looked at him in shock, "My family? I can't talk to them? They'll worry! Can you send a message?" The raven shook his head, "You can talk to them after. Any other questions?" Snow coughed then said, "Are we allowed to attack other animals?" She asked, "Some of us are carnivores." Reflection nodded, "Yes. However, until the quest is over, none of you are allowed to attack the other's kind." He gave a serious look to Zera, "That means no bunnies." Zera shrugged, "I don't like bunnies very much anyway." She said honestly. "Anything else we need to know?" She was still worried about her family. Reflection closed his eyes, "Go toward the sun in the morning." He said, "You will eventually leave the forest and find a much different environment than you are used to. There, you will be told what to do next." He said, then he spread his wings and flew above the trees. Zera watched him go then looked back down at Bubble and Snow. "Alright. I guess. Let's go." Bubble smiled and hurried forward, "This way!" He said. Zera could see the sun between the trees. "Wait!" She said, "It's not morning." Bubble slowed, "So?" He asked. Zera flicked her ears the opposite way. "So we have to go this way." Bubble blinked, "Oh." Snow snorted, "Come on fox and bunny, let's get this over with." She stalked away. Zera and Bubble exchanged a glance and followed after.
