[The Woodcarver's Curse] 2 After hearing that Elaine hadn't gotten bullied and Audrey swearing that she had seen her get bullied, I thought nothing would get worse... but it did. During English lesson which my mother, Miss Ng taught, there was an English dictation that I haven't studied. "Don't worry," I thought, "I have always aced English even if I didn't study." It wasn't that difficult but I still worried that I will spell the words wrong, the worrying feeling made my stomach hurt, and I hated it. At lunch, I forgot to wash my utensils the night before, so I wiped it with a tissue, and started to eat my chicken rice, but there was still a hint of tomato sauce from yesterday's lunch, yuck! When the end-of-lessons bell rang, I was quite glad to go back home, that meant the day was nearly over. I was extra glad when my mother, Miss Ng offered to walk home with my sister, Eden and I. I told Mother everything that happened during recess, what Audrey told us, and about the scratches (that look like the damage of a blade) on Elaine's hand. Eden helped me tell the story too, since she has heard and witnessed about everything I've seen. Mother said not to worry, and that she would investigate with us in the next day at school. That's one thing I really like about her, she tries to make things seem better even if they aren't, in this case, offering to help us (I didn't know if it helps, but at least it made me feel better). Before bed, I texted Audrey. In the message, I said that Mother would help us in school the next day, and how I believed her that Elaine did get bullied by Roger and Jake that morning because of the scratches. Audrey texted back, saying that she hopes that things will be alright soon and that she worries about Elaine's safety. Later, Mother tucked Eden and I in bed. She told us not to worry, and we could figure out what's going on tomorrow. After she turned the lights off and left the room, I couldn't sleep. I could tell my sister was still awake as well, so I asked her, "What would happen tomorrow? Will the situation get worse?" "I... I don't know," she answered. That was the problem, I didn't know, either. I woke up earlier than usual the next morning, I used to wake up at 7:00 but instead, I woke up at 6:30. Eden was still asleep and I didn't want to wake her up yet, since we both had a rough night. I went to the living room just in time to see Mother get ready to leave the house. "Morning," I greeted her as I made breakfast. "Morning, see you've got rid of the habit of waking up late," she smiled as she grabbed her coat. "Yes, I guess..." I said, but I knew it was because I couldn't fall back asleep again and wanted to distract myself doing other things, or I'll end up worrying about Elaine again. "See you in school," Mother said as she shut the door. "See you," I called after her. Since Eden was still asleep and I had nothing to do, I decided to make her breakfast for her. I picked my sister's favourite cereal, poured it in, and poured in the cereal. By that time it wad 6:45 and I had nothing to do. So, I sat down on the couch annd read my text messages. Elaine had sent a message to our friend group just 15 minutes ago, it says "Help!". I didn't know what to do. Audrey hadn't read it yet, or she'll reply to her, my sister was still sleeping... My decision was to reply "What's wrong?" to my friend, but she didn't reply.
Miss Ng is just as sweet and supportive in real life as in the story. I'm still coming up with the thing that has happened to Elaine in ths story, hope it's something good! I am always sleeping in later than I should have been in real life, just like the story, but if there is something special, I'll wake up very early!
