This is a little project made by an otherheart (me) that shows every alterhuman identity! If there's anything I missed, or anything that's wrong, please tell me by commenting :] There are more details about each identity below. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Therian/Therianthrope Identifying (spiritually, psychologically, physically, emotionally) as one or more animals. Therianthropy isn't always believing you are physically an animal. But even if they do, they are still valid. Also, therians do NOT represent the alterhuman community as a whole. They are one identity in the alterhuman umbrella. Do not address the entire alterhuman community as therians. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Otherhearted Identifying with a nonhuman being. This can be deeply connecting, relating, or understanding that being. Otherhearted people are not simply just connecting with that animal. It affects their behavior and identity. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Phytanthrope Identifying as a plant(s). Similar to therianthropy, but with plants instead of animals. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Otherkin Identifying as a nonhuman being(s). Similar to therianthropy, but with all nonhuman beings rather than just animals. Otherkin is a broader term for anyone who identifies as anything nonhuman (ex. ghostkin, catkin, demonkin, etc). Therians are a type of otherkin. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Fictionkin Identifying as a fictional character. These people might have a deep connection with a fictional character and see themselves in that character. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Otherlink Voluntarily choosing an alterhuman identity. This can be for various reasons. This is not a spiritual or psychological belief. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Copinglink Voluntarily creating a nonhuman persona as a coping mechanism. This is usually a response to trauma. Involuntary alterhumans can also be created through trauma, but they are not the same as copinglinks. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Objectkin Identifying as an inanimate object. A lot of spiritual objectkins follow the beliefs of animism. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Conceptkin Identifying as an abstract concept of some variation. This can be identifying with or as a collection of ideas, a theory, an aesthetic, or an aura, or feeling like the embodiment of that concept. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Aeslink People who identify as a certain character, object, or location for aesthetic reasons. This identity is voluntarily chosen. It can tie into coping strategies, like copinglink. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Constelic Someone who collects identities of animals, fictional characters, mythological beings, etc. This identity is often done by choice (like otherlink/copinglink) but it sometimes is involuntary. Constelic identities can be dropped, hoarded, and have priority over others. Constelic identities are usually less intense. ----------------------------------------------------------------- ALTERHUMANS AND ZOOPHILES ARE NOT THE SAME! We do not accept zoophiles in our community. ALTERHUMANS AND FURRIES ARE NOT THE SAME! Furries choose to dress up as animals with human characteristics as a hobby. Alterhumans are an involuntary identity. NOT ALL ALTERHUMANS DO NOT THINK THEY ARE PHYSICALLY ANIMALS! Someone's identity does NOT change their biology, meaning it is still not okay to bully, tease, disrespect, or 'hunt' us. (Please check the Physical Alterhuman category in the project for more clarification on physical alterhumans) YOU CAN NOT CHOOSE TO BE AN ALTERHUMAN! (unless it's Copinglink or Otherlink). You either are born as an alterhuman or become one by chance, not by choice. We will treat you kindly as long as you treat us kindly. We are not forcing you to understand us, we simply ask for your respect. Anyways, thanks or coming to my yap session at 11:45 PM ----------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: (May 18th, 2024. 12:10 AM) Objectkin has been added. UPDATE: (August 10th, 2024. 2:27 PM) I added some more notes in the "Instructions" box. UPDATE: (August 29th, 2024. 5:00 PM) After speaking to someone with OSDD, I deleted the 'Plural Systems' page, as it is an invalid identity and disrespects those with disorders and trauma that cause them to have systems. You can not be a system if you don't have trauma. (EDIT: Yes, I am now informed of endogenic systems. But a lot of them do not consider themselves alterhumans, therefore it will not be added back here.) UPDATE: (10/7/24. 1:43 PM) Conceptkin was added. UPDATE: (10/14/24. 12:39 PM) Aeslink was added.
I will be adding notes in here due to the fact that the Instructions box has run out of room :'] Credits to Otherkin Wiki, Alterhuman Archive and Google for this information --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quoiian Alterhuman individuals who have a confusing experience with their identity. This can be not being able to figure out if it is voluntary or involuntary, going from voluntary to involuntary, or having an identity that is partially voluntary/involuntary. It is a very broad term and there is no one way to identify as quoiian. --------------------------------------------------------------------- One may choose to find a creature or object to be imprinted on, thus choosing their otherkin identity. One may choose to bond their soul/spirit to another soul/spirit or to a presence, thus altering their humanity, and choosing their otherkin identity." --------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: (10/16/24. 9:34 AM) Constelic was added. UPDATE: (10/16/24. 9:59 AM) This project was made mobile friendly! Click on the black dot to go through the slides. UPDATE: (5/13/25. 11:23 AM) Choicekin was added. UPDATE: (5/14/25. 11:45 AM) Physical alterhumanity was added. UPDATE: (6/4/25. 11:48 AM) This project was remade. UPDATE: (6/4/25. 11:48 AM) Choicekin was removed due to it being extremely similar to otherlink. UPDATE: (9/19/25. 1:25 PM) I slightly changed the definitions of phytanthrope, fictionkin, objectkin, conceptkin, and aeslink due to me accidentally using the otherhearted versions of them in the definitions.
