A: It will be historical fiction that documents the Queens' lives, focusing on how they intersect. Unlike most historical fiction, it will also discuss their afterlives because the Tudor ghost stories give us so much to write and read about! Q: Will the submissions be used in the book? A: No, the writing in the tryouts won't be used in the actual book; nor will the art. Q: Are the chapters scripted? A: They will have outlines and plots you'll need to follow, but nothing too specific. The fun of this is that every author has a different take. Q: Is there a minimum length for the chapters? A: TBD. Q: How do I portray the character? A: Up to you! Just make sure it's 1. positive, 2. consistent, and 3. has some historical evidence to back it up. Example of a good portrayal: Anne Boleyn as a multifaceted person, with both good and bad traits, focusing on her better traits (such as intelligence, passion, and generosity) Example of a bad portrayal: Anne Boleyn as a 2-dimensional bully who treated Katherine of Aragon poorly and seduced Henry VIII all for her own selfish reasons (just no) Q: Why do I have to like or at least be neutral towards the Queen to write about her? A: These were real people and deserve to be written about by people who will treat them as such out of kindness and respect. Q: How much art does an artist have to do? A: That depends on how many chapters there end up being. The cover artist only needs to do 2 pieces. Q: Will the art have guidelines? A: Yes, but not too many. Diversity in art styles, themes, etc. is fun! Q: Do the voice actresses just read the chapters of the character they voice? A: Yep! The writers and the voice actors can work together to solve any problems that come up. HOWEVER, this also means voicing the queen in other queens' chapters when they interact. (Ex: I'll be voicing Katheryn Howard; if she were to interact with Anne of Cleves in an Anne of Cleves PoV chapter, I'd still voice Katheryn in that.) Q: Is historical accuracy important? A: Yes! Obviously, some things will have to be fabricated (certain scenes, descriptions, dialogue, etc.) but we're sticking as close as we can to what actually happened. Q: What gave you this idea? A: A book called Fatal Throne. (Don't worry, this book and Fatal Throne will be VERY different.) Q: Will anyone write from Henry's perspective like in Fatal Throne? A: No, unless someone says that's a good idea. Q: Can I drop out once I'm part of this? A: Yes, but it would really hinder the project, since we would need a replacement and the author's "voice" is meant to be consistent. Q: Will there be deadlines for each writing segment? A: Yes, but they won't be tight. (I'm busy too, I get it.) Any other questions? Ask in the comments!
