This is my review for Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse! Click the flag to admire the art I made which took me around an hour to complete. V (SPOILERS BELOW) Ever since it began, I knew I could count on this movie. Learning more about Gwen's backstory and getting the moment to feel what she's been through as Spider-Man from her point of view makes it interesting to begin with. Seeing her struggles rise as she reveals her identity, she ends up escaping to join the Spider society with Miguel O' Hara aka. Spider-Man 2099 who eventually found her universe and a variant of the Vulture. We then focus back on Miles doing his own things and also struggling in some ways. Throughout his business, we are introduced to the Spot. The Spot is made fun of for not being that much of a big deal at least for a little until he figures out what kind of potential his powers actually have. Gwen on the other hand, is able to pay a visit to Miles after a while due to the strict rules she has to be in the Spider society. Miles seems to be growing quickly, and his parents are worried for what he may face or challenge. Gwen's main mission was to apparently track down Spot whom the Spider society thought was an ordinary villain with no potential. However he finds out that he can get stronger with the more holes/spots he can create. Apparently, he is even allowed to travel across the Spider-Verse. We learn about his backstory and honestly one of the biggest plot twists of this film is the fact that the Spot is actually the guy Miles threw a bagel at in the first film. Let me just say, the variety of art and animation styles put into this film just make it more phenomenal, a real masterpiece. Huge props to the animators and artists they all have my respect. Anyway, the Spot ends up teleporting out of Miles’s universe, and Gwen eventually has to leave his universe to get rid of Spot. Miles also struggles to keep moving but his mother finally lets him go. Miles secretly follows Gwen to where she creates a portal to the Spot’s next location Mumbattan! We are introduced to Pavitr Prabhakar aka. Spider-Man India! Spot has already began causing havoc in the dimension so Gwen tries to stop Spot and that’s when she realized Miles followed her. Miles, Gwen, and Pavitr go to the Alchemax in Mumbattan which is the company Spot used to work for. Spot succeeds to activate the reactor for that dimension and he’s planning revenge on Miles for ruining his life. Basically, Miles was bitten by a radioactive spider that WASN’T from his dimension. Miles basically created the spot. When he became the hero he suddenly created a villain without even knowing and if this spider hadn’t bit him, maybe the Peter Parker from his universe would still be alive. This already looked fun to watch and I was so pumped up. Spot ends up escaping again to keep absorbing power and to eventually ruin Miles’s loved ones. After that, we move on to the Spider society headquarters where us Spidey-fans meet a lot of familiar faces. Insomniac Spider-Man, Spectacular, Scarlet, you name em. I also forget to mention that during Pavitr Prabhakar’s time, he still has much to learn. He was supposed to go through his crisis in saving one of his loved ones or saving the other but fortunately for him, Miles breaks that curse and saves his other loved one which intentionally wasn’t supposed to happen as Gwen knew and attempted to stop him. We are introduced to Miguel O’ Hara who’s pretty mad at Gwen for the things she was responsible for and for accidentally luring Miles to his society. Peter B. Parker also returns by the way. During this scene Miguel tells Miles about the mistake he made on saving Pavitr’s loved ones which broke the curse for the spider-verse. He explains the original concept of Spider-Man and how a loved one is supposed to die. However, Miles refuses to learn and flees to save his dad to avoid him from falling. Miguel attempts to stop him in the big chase fight we are around both of them and this scene is probably my favorite throughout the entire film. The action and emotion here is so visually stunning and very simple to understand and the fact that Miles is an anomaly who wasn’t supposed to be Spider-Man just makes him furious but at the same time he gains motivation to go home and save his family. He goes back home through a machine while the machine calculates his DNA. However, the spider Miles was bitten by takes him to the spider’s universe instead confusing him for a little until he realizes that in that universe his Uncle Aaron is alive but his dad has fallen. He tells Uncle Aaron from that universe to stop being the Prowler to avoid making the mistakes he’s made in the first film. However, in this universe he is not the Prowler but who could the Prowler be? That is none other than Miles Morales himself from that universe. Gwen realizes that the real Miles isn’t in his actual universe which is where she travels after Miguel realizes (continued in notes/credits)
