Behold the most beautiful snake you've ever seen (except maybe Priyah)! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bio: Name: Arco-Iris (means rainbow in Portuguese. Nickname is Iris) Gender: Female Species: Giant Brazilian rainbow boa Age: The equivalent of 22 human years Sexuality: Asexual Orientation: Heteroflexible Personality: Sweet, curious, adaptable, calm, ambiverted, but leans towards introverted, perceptive, can be rash, ambitious (usually in a good way), socially awkward, sometimes unsure of herself, spends a lot of her time thinking about things --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Backstory Arco-Iris was in a courtyard, surrounded by brightly painted Mayan temples. Sunlight streamed in through the rainforest canopy, making her iridescent scales shimmer, She watched as a giant, eagle-winged, jaguar padded towards her. His magnificent golden wings were folded down at his side. She bowed down in reverence at the god's presence. "Arco-Iris, I have a very special task for you," the god told her. "What do you wish for me to do, Kinich Ahau?" Iris asked. The blazing jaguar fixed his pupil-less golden gaze to hers. Iris tried not to swallow in fear. Kinich Ahau could burn her into a pile of ash in an instant, if he wished to. "I want you to guard the Pool of Youth. People from all over have hunted for it, and this must stop. Those pesky little mortals don't understand the potential danger of the Pool. As you know, if someone were to drink from it more than once they shall disintegrate. It was designed as such to prevent mortals from being greedy, but apparently I must take greater measures to stop them from doing that." Kinich Ahau swished his tail in irritation. Iris nodded in acknowledgement. "Don't worry, my lord. I'll make sure that no one drinks from the Pool twice," she said, and was about to slither off, when the sun god leaped in front of her path. "But before you do so, heed my words. You shall not leave your post until I say you can," he growled, making the whole rainforest tremble, as if an earthquake was starting. Arco-Iris was frozen in her tracks for several heartbeats. She understood how powerful and imposing Kinich Ahau truly was. "Yes, my lord," Iris replied at last. She went through the rainforest, without a word, towards the Pool of Youth --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Iris was in awe when she glimpsed the Pool of Youth. She'd always heard stories of this place, but this was the first time she laid eyes on it. There was a steep cliff in the middle of the clearing. A cyan river that seemed to glow flowed through it, then it crashed down to form the waterfall, and ended in a shallow pool. Iris edged closer to the Pool. The water was crystal clear and glowed with a magical aura. She was tempted to drink it, but she knew better. She had a job to do. Iris coiled up her long, intricately-marked, body and waited for anyone to approach the Pool... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Many seasons later) Iris was getting bored. She had now guarded the mystical pool for at least a year, maybe more. And in all that time she only encountered a scrawny boy, who was scared out of his wits to see a giant boa guarding the Pool (ugh, typical! People always hate snakes for no reason!), and an average-looking man, who listened to the rules very well, and only drank once. Apparently the process was very simple, which made it even more boring. One time, Iris decided to weave a beautiful flower crown and lei for herself. The rest of the time she just basked in the sunlight. But one day, her life changed when she came across another giant snake...
Design by Sassycatcherry. Written by me. Story and character's bio by me. Kinich Ahau is a real Ancient Mayan god. Drawn by me on Kleki. No homophobia please Fun fact: The design was so complicated that at first I thought I couldn't draw it, but it turns out that I can draw it. And I was also going to draw her coiled around a tree branch, but it was so confusing that I couldn't figure it out, XD! Also, coincidentally, today is Iris day (this is for real)!
