"First years this way!" called Hagrid. We all boarded boats to get to the school. Once we had crossed the lake and were inside the school, we walked into the great hall for the sorting ceremony. Then the sorting hat started singing, "Oh, you may not think I'm pretty, But don't judge on what you see, I'll eat myself if you can find A smarter hat than me. You can keep your bowlers black, Your tops hats sleek and tall, For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat And I can cap them all. There's nothing hidden in your head The Sorting Hat can't see, So try me on and I will tell you Where you ought to be. You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell brave of heart, Their daring, nerve, and chivalry Set Gryffindors apart; You might belong in Hufflepuff, Where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true And unafraid of toil; Or yet wise old Ravenclaw, If you've a ready mind, Where those of wit and learning, Will always find their kind; Or perhaps in Slytherin You'll make your real friends, Those cunning folk use any means To achive their ends. So put me on! Don't be afraid! And you won't get in a flap! You're safe in my hands(though I have none) For I'm a Thinking Cap!!!" "Welcome to Hogwarts". Mcgonagall said, "Before the Welcoming Feast, we must sort all first year students into their proper houses, Abbot, Hannah? You are first." A young girl with blonde hair walked up. "Hufflepuff!" The sorting hat yelled. "Crystal Nightshade?" Mcgonagall called Crystal walked up, looking excited. I saw her muttering under her breath as if she was talking to the sorting hat. "Well, better be... RAVENCLAW!" The sorting hat said. "Elizabeth Orangeveil?" Mcgonagall said. I walked up nervously. "I remember your mother." Mcgonagall said to me. "She was the top student in her grade. Also, very good friends with Lilly Evens." "Really?" I asked her. "Best not keep the line waiting long!" she said as she placed the hat on my head. "Hmmm" I heard the sorting hat say. "It has been a long time since I've met someone like you before... You'd do wonderful in Slytherin or Gryffindor, but you'll most likely succeed well in... Ravenclaw!" I walked over to the Ravenclaw table and sat down with Crystal. Skylar was next, I had my fingers crossed that she would be in the same house as me. Almost immediatly after she had the hat on the sorting hat called, "Slytherin!" She passed the Ranveclaw table and frowned at me. After loads of more students, we were told to go to our dormitories.
