i .... .... .... introduction hello! spruceradiance [ roleplayed by me ] has been assigned as a mentor to vykořenitpaw [ roleplayed by @Catsrpawsome15 ] . this project is for dumping ideas/setting plans pertaining to vyko's apprenticehood, and how spruce will go about teaching him. i don't like introducing myself; most of my personal stuff is on my profile page... so let's get right into it >:3 i'm still adding to this and messing around,, but i think it's got most of the important information by now so i'm just gonna have to post it and hope it all makes sense. ii .... .... .... mentoring style/general plans - right off the bat, he'll ask vykořenit some questions about what he wants to get out of his apprenticehood, which will shape the content of his training to help him meet his goals. the questions are as follows: 1. does he want to be the best warrior he can be, or does he just want to get by? 2. what practical stuff does he want to learn most of in the coming moons? does he want to improve his fighting and hunting skills? or have a strong understanding of the warrior code, or overall morality and the behaviors of other cats? or anything else? 3. does he have any hobbies he wants to save extra time for; any form of art or activity or passion? 4. most importantly, spruce will ask vykořenit about the kind of cat he wants to be. what personality traits are the most honorable/desirable to him? how does he want others to see him? what impact does he want to leave on the world? - the schedule will be very relaxed; specific assignments and training sessions will only happen every few days. he has his own life, and he wants to give his apprentice a good dose of freedom too. - he will give no warning for when official training sessions occur. he has a vague internal calender for them [ "tomorrow seems like a good day for training!" / "i should check in on vyko, it's been a few days..." ] but then he'll kinda just show up and announce it's time to train with seemingly no method to the madness :p if vyko doesn't like this, he'll make it more predictable and/or start giving fair warning. it's also usually during the late morning or afternoon, though he'll toss in a healthy dose of night/twilight assignments. - spruceradiance will also expect vyko to explore the territory on his own, though he'll give him some tips on staying safe in the desert before setting him loose. - to make up for this, he will heavily encourage vykořenitpaw to regularly practice with other apprentices and even warriors! this'll be how he expects him to perfect basic warrior skills. it's not like he won't be there if his apprentice needs him-- if vyko ever has trouble with something, is in the mood for an impromptu training session, or even just wants to chat, he can come straight to his mentor anytime... but spruceradiance will try to teach him how to take initiative in getting help, and to build a bigger support network on his own. - this clears up time for them to talk about personal stuff. radi will want to know about vyko's life, and will do his best to help him achieve his own goals. - another thing that'll primarily occur within official training sessions is exercises involving running, climbing, and improving agility. ruse tries to personally oversee some of this 'cause it's less about practice and mastery and more about staying in good shape. - spruce doesn't really care if vyko's a rule-breaker! he wants to know if he's getting up to mischief, but he won't punish him or tell authorities unless it seriously endangers him/someone he cares about. he WILL make sure he knows the rules and the risks of breaking them. - spruceradiance's primary reason for wanting to be a mentor is because he himself was only made a warrior recently, and he isn't fully certain of his path from here. he wants to help another cat grow, to see someone else's life and thus gain a new perspective towards his own. this tidbit isn't directly part of the schedule, but it might help explain some of his choices as a mentor!
iii .... .... .... roleplaying plans/oorp stuff - i hope to get at least three threads done during apprenticehood!! all back-to-back, none going at the same time. if a thread is still going after two weeks, it's gonna have to stop abruptly. if it ends nicely in less than two weeks, we can start the next one immediately. if we have time to do more than three, we'll use it if we're both feeling up for it. - the first thread will happen a day after the ceremony in canon. spruce will give vyko his questions and a brief lecture on the warrior code and staying safe in the desert, as well as explaining that his training's gonna be pretty chill. he'll show vyko the basics of fishing, though he doesn't expect him to master it in the first session; he considers this to be the most important skill. - just to make this clear, "official training sessions" are not the same as roleplayed-out training threads. a bunch of training sessions will have happened oorp... and if we're lucky we might even find time to roleplay them just hanging out. - these things unfortunately tend to take a while... so it'd be great if you could answer spruce's starting questions right now! just so we both have an immediate clear picture of what vyko's apprenticehood is like. - none of this is set in stone-- you're as much a part of this as i am. any questions of your own; anything you want removed or included or changed or elaborated on? fire away!!!
