Copingkin is a less used term, which people often get confused with otherkin and coping link. I identify as copingkin and know others who do, so I think I should post the definition. Copingkin is involuntarily becoming something similar to a therian/otherkin/fictionkin to cope with something, like a mental illness, trauma, a physical illness, just general stress, or anything else! You can become copingkin at any point in your life, but generally if you're younger it can be considered therianthropy/otherkinity/fictionkinity, but there isn't a defined barrier. I know some people consider it before you find out about therians/otherkin/fictionkin, others before you become a teen, others before you become a preeten is therianthropy/otherkinity/fictionkinity, but this isn't a hard and fast rule- it's pretty much whatever fits you better. It might be permenent for some and temporary for others, and how similar to therianthropy/otherkinity/fictionkinity can vary from person to person. Also, it doesn't necessarily have to help you- it could just help you understand your emotions or even do nothing.
