❀ Muddy Mayhem - May Indoor Event ❀ ∘₊✧─────✧₊∘ Welcome to LRS's May show, Muddy Mayhem Indoor Event! This one-day schooling event is great for horses and riders that want to start the show season a bit early, or greenies that would like to do the cross-country phase in a contained area! We are open to HP and MFS. We've decided to bring the event inside, because as the name suggests, the XC field and arenas are a muddy mess! Entries close on the 30th or when full ^^ ∘₊✧──────✧₊∘ RULES (please read all of these before entering!): ❀ The most important rule: be kind! Don't gloat if you win or get mad if you lose. ❀ Tack rules are as follows: - Every horse must have a WELL-FITTING English all-purpose, jumping, or close-contact saddle, except for the dressage phase where dressage saddles are permitted as well. You can also do the dressage phase in a jump/all-purpose/close contact saddle, but you can't jump in a dressage saddle. - Similarly, every horse needs to have an appropriate saddle pad for their saddle. So, for example, jumping saddles can have a basic or contoured jump pad, all-purpose saddles can have a basic or contoured all-purpose pad, close contact saddles can have a fleece numnah, and dressage saddles can have a dressage pad. Half pads, gel pads, "lollipop" pads, etc are all welcome, so long as there's also a regular pad underneath it. - Every horse must have a well-fitting bridle, or a neck strap. Bridles can be bitted (with full-cheek, dee ring, loose ring, or eggbutt snaffles with smooth, thick mouthpieces made out of metal or preferably rubber, either double or single jointed. Rubber mullen mouth snaffles may be used as well) or bitless (sidepulls, cross-unders, bosals, and wheel/flower shank hackamores at the least severe setting). It is required that your bridle is either a single/snaffle bridle (without the flash), anatomical (i.e. Micklems), western-style (without a noseband), or LEATHER war bridles (bridleless bits). Neck straps can be made out of leather or rope, and are worn without a bridle. Nosebands must be able to have at least three fingers between it and the horse's nose at ANY point of the face at all times. - NO curb (i.e. kimberwick), leverage (i.e. tom thumb), or elevator/gag (i.e. Dutch gag) bits or long hackamore shanks (i.e. Baroque or English mechanical), will be permitted! No flash/drop nosebands, crank nosebands, or twisted mouthpieces, and any snaffle can only have one mouthpiece. Figure eight/grackle bridles, double bridles, and any kind of double reins are banned, as well as hackabit combinations. Any Spanish/metal nosebands are 100% banned and inherently cruel. There are no exceptions to these rules. - Pretty much any type of protective leg boot is allowed for riding, excluding shipping and fly boots. Polo wraps can only be worn for the dressage phase, as they offer very little protection. Eventing grease is allowed, and encouraged, for the cross-country phase. - Spurs are not permitted for ANY phase. Sticks and crops are banned as well, however, dressage whips may be used in the dressage phase ONLY, and only to be used for lateral movements, bending, circles, etc. and never to hit the horse. - No martingales (standing, running, or German), tie-downs, or anything else forcing the head down or up and restricting its movement are allowed. Again, there are no acceptations to this rule, martingales and tie-downs are utterly unnecessary and you should go back to simpler training if you "need" them. - It is preferred if your horse is barefoot, however please don't rip their shoes out and immediately start training and competing! - So basically, tack is to be kept minimal impact and simplistic. Eventing is supposed to display the partnership and ability of horse and rider, not how well a rider can use equipment and gadgets to force a horse into something! ❀ Your horse must be at least five years old to compete in starter to novice level, and has to be seven plus years to compete from novice to modified. It's not "impressive" to be jumping young horses whose musculoskeletal system hasn't finished developing over huge, technical fences, it is cruelty and will not be tolerated. This event only goes up to modified and is a schooling event. ❀ How you keep your horse can affect your score! If your horse is kept out 24/7 with a herd when not competing, your chance of winning will increase by 5%. However, if your barn is caught neglecting horses (no access to food and water, covered in manure, under 12x12 ft if it's a stall, there are dangers like loose nails or trash everywhere, paddocks are overcrowded or have bad fencing, no turnout schedule for stalled horses, etc) I will not allow you to compete. ❀ The horse you want to enter on must be in good condition (i.e. at a good weight, has enough training, shiny, glossy coat, no open wounds, proper hoof + health care, etc, etc).
