¬ Arrowverse-style Introduction : I'm Special Agent Ara Bates. I always wanted to be a hero, but my past always holds me back, a past I would do anything to keep buried. I had to find a way to become something more without having to leave the shadows. So now I take the places of the real heroes when there's an empty space. Their faces, their suits, their masks. Fighting their fights. The perfect illusion. I could never be a hero, but at least I can come close. And the best part is, nobody will ever know the difference. ¬ Full Name : Ara Elizabeth Bates ¬ Main Alias : None ¬ Nickname(s) : Liz, Lizzie ¬ Birthday : September 9th ¬ Gender & Preferred Pronouns: Female; She-Her ¬ Sexuality : Straight ¬ Physical Appearance : Caucasian. Wavy, dark, auburn-brown hair. Extremely dark, almost black eyes. She has light freckles on her cheeks, and two ultra-thin scars on her forehead intersecting her right eyebrow. ¬ Occupation : Rookie FBI Special Agent ¬ Citizenship : American, Gotham City ¬ Place of Birth : Brevard, North Carolina ¬ Personality : Being an agent has given her a deeper sense of caring and loyalty. She has a rebellious streak though and is used to making snap judgements. She’s not stupid though, and she makes the best decision she can think of at the time, but is also extremely perfectionistic. She believes that the greater good is always the better option, even if it means bending a few rules. She is acutely good at reading people: their facial expressions, body language, mannerisms, etc., and mimicking them. At the same time, she is very defensive of herself and her past and has a hard time letting people in. She has a bit of a temper, and her sense of humor is sarcasm and sass. (Continued -->
¬ Background : Ara had a normal childhood, living the small-town life. She never knew her childhood was founded on a lie. Her single mother was Spyral, and the reason they lived so small-scale was because they were being hunted. It came to a head when Ara was in high school. She came back from Homecoming to find her house turned over and her mother missing. Her mother showed up again weeks later, no explanation, and they went on the run. She knew something wasn't right, and it wasn't long until she figured out her mother's secret. Things went out of control, and Ara even witnessed her mother taking out rival agents who came after them and helped her cover it up. Then her mother disappeared entirely, all signs at the crime scene pointing to her having been killed. Ara was devastated, but she'd had enough, and she used what her mother left behind to scrub the evidence of her mother's connection to Spyral so she would have a shot of becoming an agent like she'd always dreamed. She succeeded, getting stationed at Gotham, and tried to forget about her past. It didn't work. She needed the risk and the thrill that she got from being with her mother, but she also wanted to be the hero she couldn't be because of her past and the limits of her job. She started doing advanced undercover missions, taking on completely new identities, off the books to help her cases. She found she was really good at it. Her investigations started rubbing up against the missions of heroes like Batman and the Titans when she got too ambitious. Batman saw her potential and she saw a plan. If a hero ever needed to be in two places at once, they would get in touch, and she would take their place, using Spyral tech, suit replicas, and her imitation skills to become the perfect double for them. She became an unofficial member of the team, and has doubled most, if not all of them, male or female, whenever it was needed. ¬ Family Members : (Mother) Maiza Thomas (Alias: Asia Bates), presumed dead; (Father) Unknown, something to figure out later ¬ Base of Operations : Gotham City ¬ Alignment : Hero ¬ Ideal Love Interest : Someone who can handle her ;) ¬ Ideal Affiliation : the Batman(men?) or another street-level hero or hero team ¬ Super-suit : She has multiple suit replicas with the same functionalities as the originals. She has a Spyral mask perfectly sculpted to her face to duplicate her subjects’ faces and voices, and special-made wigs modeled after her subjects’ hair. She wears a chest-binder and an additional carbon undersuit of synthetic muscle tissue that replicates a male build when doubling for a male subject. ¬ Powers/Meta-human Abilities : None ¬ Regular Human Abilities : Peak physical conditioning, Mental toughness ¬ Skills : Mimicry, Undercover Ops, Martial arts, Weapons, Stealth, Acrobatics, Criminology ¬ Paraphernalia : She uses replicas of her subjects’ equipment when doubling. She has her FBI standard-issue weapon in a holster at the small of her back at all times as her public identity. ¬ Weaknesses : She is a standard human with standard human weaknesses. She wants nothing more than to keep her past buried, and if someone knew her real story, it could possibly be used to manipulate her out of her fear of being discovered. She rarely lets people in and is reluctant to open up, which can cause tension with her teammates. Fun Fact : I chose the last name Bates after Henry Walter Bates, who gave the first scientific account of mimicry in species.
