McCloud River 39 which was the RR's newest locomotive and only SD38-2 (the rest of their fleet was of the older non dash 2 SD38). This locomotive was sold to the SERR in 1997 after a failed sale to the UP. The locomotive was shipped to Yuba City shortly after it's purchase and was put into service immediately, SERR's main motive for buying this locomotive was to replace the aging fleet of former UP SD24s which were reaching the end of their service lives. As two had already been sidelined and sold to the ICG, this locomotive was needed badly. The locomotive stayed unpatched for around two months but eventually got it's logos and herald painted over. SERR renumbered it to 390 for and unknown reason and released it back into service. The locomotive as of 2013 has been repainted into SERR's scheme and rebuilt with an NForce microprocessor.
