War facts-non biased (Scroll down) Hamas started the war on October 7th with a terrorist attack They have taken my friends wife hostage Israel was declared a republic in 1948, however Palestine wasn’t a country before, the British just called it Palestine. I know this because my family settled in Israel in 1846 and my grandparents were alive before Israel became a republic, there was no Palestine. Palestine is a territory in which Arab Jews and other middle eastern Jews were kicked out of their countries and were forced to go to present day Israel, which was the Ottoman Empire. Israel was also a republic over 4000 years ago.
