She sat up in her bed, touching her curlers, making sure they were still there. She quietly pulled the duvet off of her and slipped on a pair of slippers, and tiptoed out of the girl's dorms. She exhaled slowly as she closed the door, and went down the stairs, careful not to step on the squeaky ones. The common room was dimly lit; the only sources of light being the fireplace and flickering candles. Adrianna felt oddly at ease. She sat down on a deep viridian-green plushed couch, hugging her knees. She hadn't noticed a young man reading a book, not yet. She shuffled uneasily on the couch, resting her head on her knees. "Who's there!" a voice rang out, and Adrianna jumped. "Shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot" she thought, scared. "I'm done," she thought, as she stood up, rubbing her bare shoulders. It was awfully cold, and Adrianna was uncontrollably shaking. "Me?" she said, half heartedly. Something in her told her to go near the voice, against her better judgement. She walked around, and found none other than Tom, hunched over a a table. "What are you-" Adrianna began, frowning. Tom looked over his shoulder, furious. "What have you seen so far," he whispered, angrily. His nose was almost touching Adrianna's. In situations like these, Adrianna would have laughed. Who even was he? But right now, she was trembling, his wand pressed up against her neck. "Tell me," he seethed, anger flashing through his eyes. Adrianna squirmed a little, causing Tom's grip on her arm to be more forceful. "Ow!" she said, tears, welling up in her eyes. "I don't know what you're talking about," she managed to say. Tom looked her straight in the eyes, searching her thoughts. "Legilimency," she thought, and then widened her eyes. Whoops. "How did you know?" Tom asked, loosening his grip on her. His voice was a mix of curiosity and anger. Adrianna took a step back. "I- I don't know. I just /felt it/" she said, with a shrug. Her heart was racing. This was the longest conversation she probably had with him that didn't include petty remarks and insults. He let go of her arm, and she rubbed it. She couldn't help but be curious. What was he reading anyways? Tom slammed the book shut, furious. "Get out," he seethed, and advanced towards Adrianna. She turned her back towards him and rolled her eyes. "And to think that I liked him," she thought, as she sat down on her couch. She looked over at him, and he was still reading his book by the candle light. Adrianna couldn't help but stare at him. He was mysterious, but attractive. Tom took his book and locked eye contact with Adrianna for a second and then head back to the boy's dorms. • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • · by far the worst chapter i've ever written the next one is so slay tho so don't worry 478 words
