9-year-old Luna Lovegood sat in her mum's labatory. The smells of potions filled her nose. The cream colored wallpaper was plastered around the room. "Mum?" Luna asked with curiosity, she pointed to a potion that was thick and bubbling green liquid. "What's that?" Luna's mum, Pandora Lovegood gave a small chuckle, her face was filled with warmth and kindness. "That, my dear, if the potion of Erides. Only a true person of great bravery and loyalty will face it's true side effects" Luna raised a brow. Her mind racing with questions. "what are those side effects?" "what happens if a person who dosen't demonstrate great bravery and loyalty?" Pandora gave a warm smile, she answered all the questions intelligently and precisely, hoping her daughter would understand. She took out her wand and gave Luna a playful grin. "Do you want to see something cool?" she asked, Luna gave an excited nod. Her messy blonde hair bouncing everywhere. "stand back," Pandora cautioned, "or you might get hurt" Luna took a few steps back. Her toes getting splinters from the harsh floor. Pandora waved her wand in precise movements, whispering the incantation as her blonde hair started swaying in the wind. Suddenly the spell backfired. Pandora Lovegood was sent to the ground. Her screems filled the house. Luna watched in horror as her mum- once alive and filled with warmth and joy, now was lying on the ground- cold and lifeless. Tears streamed down Luna's cheeks. She rushed to her mother's side. She didn't care that the side effects of the spell was still flickering around her mum's body, showing danger in every possible way, she didn't care that the splinters on her feet told her not to go, which pained her even more. Luna bent down to her lifeless mother. She tried to search her eyes, hoping to see at least a little life on her. But the truth stuck inside her: Her mother was dead. Her mother was dead no matter how much she wanted to bring her back. "Please be alive" Luna choked, tears streaming down her cheeks, "please" Meanwhile, Xenophilius Lovegood, father of Luna and wife of Pandora was perched on his chair reading the daily prophet. He was on some really good news when he heard Pandora's screems. Xenophilus almost jumped out of his seat and rushed downstairs to see if everything was alright. "Pandora?" He called out. There was no answer, only faint sobbing he knew was from Luna. He quickly ran to his wife's lavatory knowing that was where his wife and daughter were. Xenophilius opened the door, hoping what he thought wasn't true. He saw Luna crouched besides Pandora's lifeless body. Dread filled his eyes. What he thought was true. Luna turned her head towards her father, knowing he was in the presance. She was too sad to talk, instead she gave him a sad shake telling him that her mum didn't make it. Xenophilus crouched down to Pandora, his eyes waterfalled with tears. "No," he sobbed "Pandora" Xenophilius looked at his daughter, still grief stricken. "Luna," he sobbed, "How did this happen?" Luna didn't answer. She was still too sad to. She would tell her father later. Luna would have to learn to live without her mother. It would be difficult, but she'd learn.
