Research + links. Folded ear - Most cats with folded ears have this trait due to their breed, but some cats may end up with just one if there is some sort of issue with their development. In Oasis’s case, this could be hereditary if one of his parents has folded ears, but is not a full-bred Scottish fold or any other breed with this trait. Kittens are always born with folded ears, but most do not stay that way. If one ear stays folded throughout a cat's life, the other will never stand fully straight up, and may have a slight bend to it as well.
