"When the summer ceased it's gleaming, when the corn is past it's prime, when adventure's lost it's meaning, I'll be homeward bound in time" Art piece I did after getting this pair of AMAZING custom designs from the amazing @Koibitto ! (Thanks again SO SO MUCH for them omlll babies) Anyways- The characters featured are Milo (left) and Otis (right) Corncopper! Yes you might recognize the names, that's because I named them after the characters from the movie "The Adventures of Milo and Otis" which was a childhood classic of mine. Milo and Otis Corncopper are twin brothers who both grew up in the countryside on their family's farm, and when the boys were young they were as thick as thieves (literal thieves sometimes, they gave their parents so much grey fur as rambunctious kittens) however as they grew up, their differences began to show. Milo loves the life of a rough and tumble farmboy, not afraid to get his paws dirty or bust himself up to get the work done, while Otis not so much. He dreamed of life in the big city of Concord, to study and make a life for himself there. What kept him tethered to the farm was his family. His brother, Pa and Ma were his world, and he loved them so much that he was willing to push his dreams aside to stay with them. Well, when the boys were teens, Ma fell sick and passed shortly after, and Pa worked himself to his grave keeping the farm afloat not very long after. The brothers were then herded off to their aunt and uncle's, their farm sold, and after a series of nasty fights Otis packed up and left, making his way to the big city. Otis loved the city just as much as he thought he would. His sharp wits got him into the college there, and after graduating he made himself a career, married his now husband, and made a comfortable little life for himself.. But he missed Milo terribly. He had the minute he left, though couldn't bring himself to reach out to him again. Well, he was surprised one day by Milo on his front door. He hadn't seen him in so long that he nearly didn't recognize him, but there he was, hat in hand asking to reconcile. "Ma and Pa wouldn't want their boys to fight forever" he had said. Well after a very long yet touching heart to heart, Otis came to learn that through sheer determination and hard work, Milo had bought back their childhood farm and now ran it himself. Otis had to see it with his own eyes, so joined Milo on the train ride back to their hometown. It was exactly like how they left it, and sitting on the fence, happily chatting with Milo, listening to the birds and feeling the cool summer evening's breeze through his fur, he half expected to hear Ma calling them from the barn for supper, or Pa's tractor coming in from the fields after a long day of work. He knows those days are gone, and by tomorrow he'll be on the next train back to the city, but for now? He and Milo are together, and that's what matters most.
