Today is another day for another rant… I will be building off of what I said a few months ago. ToS stands for Terms of Service, which is something that many scratchers :withering glare: have come to abuse. This website is mainly made up of people who are younger than 20; these people do not have enough life experience and proper education about how business and finances work, which is why the Scratch OTA/DTA community is a flaming fire pit mess rn. I’m sure you’ve probably seen what’s been happening. I am not going to be going into OTA/DTA prices/art sales/etc bc I know a popular scratcher recently did that (also i have my own opinions on it but shhh… we’ll keep those quiet.) Terms of Service are real things in real life, but they have become unreasonable here on this silly website. How? I’ll break it down. A: ToS are becoming too controlling Designers make the designs. They sell the designs (usually, here, for art) and NO LONGER own the design. So why the HELL do you still get to take my character away if I don’t “use it enough” or if I get graylisted/blacklisted? It’s NOT YOURS anymore. Suck it up, buttercup, and deal with it. You cannot control things that no longer belong to you. I will do whatever I want; the character is mine now. B: ToS are being unfairly changed. When a person agrees to terms of service, do you ever notice how the website or source of the ToS needs to notify and have the user *AGREE* to the new terms every time the ToS is updated? That’s because ToSs are documents and logic provides that we have to be notified when they are updated, and agree to the changes. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR ToS AND GET MAD THAT SOMEONE IS BREAKING YOUR ToS BC THEY GOT THE CHARACTER YOU GAVE THEM BEFORE YOU CHANGED/MADE YOUR ToS. And Finally… C: Reselling / Trading without ToS permission I OWN THE CHARACTER NOW. I do not need your permission to trade, give, or sell something that no longer belongs to you!!! This one is self explanatory —> Is it really fair, if I spend *HOURS* of my time making you payments for a design and then you can take it back if I’m not “using it enough” or if I “break your ToS”? NO. Design buyers are being treated like dirt because certain designers can’t bear to not control their old designs anymore. IF YOU LOVE A DESIGN ENOUGH TO TRACK IT AND PREVENT A KID FROM HAVING FUN WITH IT DONT FRIGGIN SELL IT. <3 rant over
