She sat on the enchanted boat that was bringing her and the other recently graduated back to the train station, the way it had brought them when they were first years. Adrianna stared at her reflection in the dark water. "Seven years have gone by so fast," she said, blinking back tears as she talked to Cosette. They weren't tears of despair—no, they were tears of joy and melancholy mixed together. "I'm going to miss it so much," Cosette said, giving her a sad smile. The two friends hugged each other and talked, reliving old memories of their Hogwarts years. "At least you have Tom. Evan hates me," Cosette said, giving Adrianna a wink. Evan Rosier had dumped Cosette last month, right after the N.E.W.T.S. Then he came back, apologizing to Cosette, who laughed in his face. "What's Tom even doing anyway?" Adrianna thought out loud. She looked around at the nearby boats, searching. She saw a glimpse of dark, curly hair and immediately recognized him. The expression on his face was sour; he looked like he was about to push Abraxas Malfoy off of the boat. "Cosette!" Adrianna said, grinning as she poked her best friend. She pointed to where Tom was, and the two burst out laughing. "I feel bad for Abraxas," Cosette said, between giggles. "Me too, and he's an absolute /prat/," Adrianna said, unable to contain her laughter. "Oh, look, we're here!" Cosette pointed, and Adrianna looked where she pointed. There were carriages waiting for them—the carriages that were waiting for them during their first year. "I got that summertime, summertime sadness," she sang softly as she stared out of the carriage window. This would be the last time she would ever see Hogwarts. The castle stood tall and majestic, with a soft glow coming from it. "I don't think your boyfriend would want you to be singing a muggle song, Andie," Cosette said teasingly. Adrianna stuck her tongue out and covered her ears. "Kiss me hard before you go, summertime sadness," she sang, smirking in Cosette's direction. "I just wanted you to know that, baby, you're the best," Cosette finished, smirking back. The two best friends completely ignored the other two people sitting in the carriage. One was a male who was reading a book, and the other was a female who was fast asleep. Adrianna looked at her and snickered silently. The male looked up, angry. "That's my /sister/ you're making fun of," he said, putting his book down and glaring at the two. Adrianna and Cosette looked at each other and burst into laughter. "Stop!" Cosette said to Adrianna, through giggles. Adrianna calmed herself down, and a neutral mask slipped on her face. "Sorry," she said, although she didn't mean it. The rest of the ride was like that—Cosette and Adrianna laughing at stupid things. "C'mon," Adrianna said, pulling Cosette's arm when they had gotten to the train station. "I want to sit in the same compartment as Tom," she explained, and Cosette rolled her eyes. Adrianna walked through the hallways of the train, searching through the compartments. "Oh, there you are," she said, opening the sliding glass door. She sat down next to Tom, and Cosette sat across from her, in between Druella Rosier and Abraxas Malfoy. The rest of the train ride went smoothly, and Adrianna took in every second of it. She would miss the smell of the dark leather seats, the smell of the fresh rain seeping in through the crack in the glass windows, the trolley lady who would always chase kids when they stole some sweets, and the creaking noise the sliding glass doors made whenever they were pulled. She would miss all of it. Her heart dropped a little when they pulled into platforms 9 and 3/4. "See you later, Cosette," Adrianna said, teary-eyed, as she hugged her best friend. Cosette was going to Paris for a week, and Adrianna would miss her terribly. Adrianna wiped a tear from her cheek. "Bye, Andie," Cosette said, using the nickname she had made for her all those years ago. Adrianna let go of her and said goodbye to the rest of her friends. Finally, she said bye to Tom. She knew he wasn't a fan of public displays of affection, but she hugged him anyway. "It's only for a day," he said, murmuring into her hair. "I know, but still. It's not going to be the same anymore," she reasoned as she pulled away from him. "Are you crying?" Tom asked, frowning. Adrianna wiped her tears. "Maybe I am," she said, teasingly. "Crying is for weak people," he said, smirking. Adrianna stuck her tongue out. "Okay, then I'm weak," she said, while Tom rolled his eyes. "See you tomorrow," Adrianna said, hopefully. Tom nodded.
