It’s pride month again! You know what that means! Time to dust off those rainbow flags, don your most vibrant attire, and spread love like confetti! This month isn't just about celebrating identities; it's about honoring the resilience and diversity within the LGBTQ+ community. So, whether you're attending a parade, hosting a virtual event, or simply embracing who you are, let's make this Pride Month a colorful celebration of love, acceptance, and progress. 1 UPDATE: 6/7/24 2 UPDATE: 6/9/24 3 UPDATE: (coming soon!)
I would like to share a story of my friend named Lisa that was Lesbian a couple years back… When Lisa, just 13 at the time, texted me on the 3rd day of Pride Month declaring, "I’m Bisexual!" with joyful emojis, I couldn't contain my happiness for her self-discovery. At that moment, I didn't fully understand my own identity, but witnessing Lisa's excitement was infectious. I promised to take her to her first Pride Month Convention to celebrate. The anticipation leading up to the convention was palpable. However, just hours before our planned outing, I received a distressing call from Lisa. Despite my attempts to reach her, there was only silence on the other end. Frantically, I contacted her parents, but to no avail. Tragically, it was later revealed that Lisa had been subjected to cruel taunts from her peers, causing her unimaginable pain. In her darkest moment, she made the devastating decision to end her suffering. Lisa's story serves as a simple reminder to cherish and protect the LGBTQ+ community, especially during Pride Month. It's a time not only for celebration but also for unwavering support and solidarity. To all those who proudly embrace their identities, remember to stay resilient and continue living your truth. Your existence is a beacon of hope and love. We stand with you, now and always. <3
