Flashback! Chapter 2 “Hey Skystorm!” Mintpaw said, peeking her head into the elder’s den. She was carrying the mouse bile Frostpaw had given her for the ticks. “Hi Mintpaw!” The gray and black she-cat lifted her head, “How are you doing? Training going well?” “Everything’s great!” Mintpaw replied, “Just here to do ticks!” “Okay then!” Skystorm said, “I’m guessing you would like a story?” “Yes please!” Mintpaw said, sitting down to search for ticks. “I’ll start then . . .” Skystorm began. “This story took place about 5 moons ago. And it began with a dawn patrol. I was still a warrior, and was getting ready to move to the elder’s den, but I was leading the patrol, with Voleclaw, and Bubblestream. Everything was as it should be. The Newleaf rains were flooding up the river, as they normally are, the prey was plentiful, but what we brought back to camp was far more precious than any prey.” Mintpaw smiled as she cracked a tick between her teeth. On the bank of the river, was a tiny, gray and white wet mess of fur. “ ‘Oh Starclan! That’s a kit!’ I had said, running over to move her to dry ground. ‘Hey kit! Are you okay?’ “ You were barely conscious at the time, the only thing you said was; ‘Shade? Where’s shade?’ “ I replied with, ‘Oh, well, um that’s over here . . .’ Kind of confused about what you were asking about. “But you had blacked out, so we ran back to camp with you, and took you to the medicine den. You woke up at about mid-day, when Stormwind said that you probably had amnesia. She was right, and the only thing you remembered was that your name was Mint. “So I introduced myself to you, and Hailstar held the meeting to accept you into Riverclan, and you met Troutpaw! She was Troutkit at the time. You two never left each other’s sides, and you still haven’t now!” Skystorm finished. “Thanks for the story,” Mintpaw said, “And your ticks are done!” “Alright then, see you later!” Skystorm replied. “See you Skystorm!” Mintpaw said over her shoulder, going to wash the mouse bile off of her paws.
