Luna and Ginny sat in the great hall. It would be moments until they would be sorted into their houses. Luna was hoping that she would be making some friends but now her peers were giggling at her radish earrings. "Ignore them," Ginny said, standing on her tip-toes, trying to find her brothers, "That's weird, I see Fred, George, and Percy, but I don't see Ron anywhere" Luna smiled to herself, "The wackerspurts probably got him" she said dreamily although she knew that Ginny actually wasn't looking for Ron, she was looking for the famous Harry Potter. When he was just a baby, he defeated Lord Voldemort—a dark wizard who was known for killing people and wanting the whole muggle-born population gone. Thankfully, Luna was what wizards called "pure-blood" so she, and her family weren't threatened by him. On the train, Ginny told her about how her youngest- but still older than her brother, Ron became one of Harry Potter's best friend with an extortionary muggle-born witch named Hermione Granger. Ginny told Luna how surprised during the summer when her brothers flew a car to Harry Potter's house to rescue him from his horrid aunt, uncle, and cousin and deliver him to their house. "First years, please come forward when I call your name," McGonagall's voice rang through the hall, "then you'll be sorted into your houses. There are four of these. There are Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin" McGonagall said 'Slytherin' as if it were her enemy. Someone who killed a great friend that she deeply cared about. Luna understood why. According to the rumors she was hearing, there wasn't a single witch or wizard who came out of Slytherin bad. Voldemort, was the most evil of them all. "These houses will be like your family" McGonagall continued, "You will receive points for your house if you follow rules and deduct points if you break them." She eyed Ginny's twins. Ginny had told Luna on the train that they were big troublemakers. "The house which has the most points at the end of the year will win the Hogwarts cup. Now without further ado, let the sorting begin!" McGonagall held up a parchment that contained student's names "Creevy, Colin" She called. A excited but rather small boy came to the stool. He gladdly placed the hat onto his head. Slipping onto his head the Sorting Hat processed all the information. "Let's see...," the sorting hat began, "GRYFFINDOR!" The Gryffindor table clapped, welcoming in their new member. "Cornezla, Harper" "SLYTHERIN!" The Slytherin table clapped. "Lovegood, Luna" Luna's heart skipped a beat. What if she was sorted into Slytherin? She heard the sniggers behind her as she placed the old tattered hat onto her head. "Let's see. A very keen mind, yes. A bit of kindness and bravery as well. Better be RAVENCLAW!" Luna smiled herself although no one in Ravenclaw clapped for her like the the other houses had done. "Ravenclaw? I thought she would be in feakville" One of the students sniggered while Luna walked to the Ravenclaw table. She tried to brush off the comment but it stayed put into her mind. "Weasley, Ginerva!" GRYFFINDOR!" The Gryffindor table erupted with cheers as Ginny came to sit with her brothers. While the other Ravenclaws were giggling loudly at Luna's usually large robes. She ignored their cruel laughter and watched the couniting of the sorting. Although she preferred robes that fitted properly, Luna's father, who barley got enough money by being editor of the Quibbler and with the overpriced Lockhart books on the school list, could only afford 7th year robes for her. The sleeves dangled passed her arms, constantly tripping over the humongous cloak while she tried to walk. Dumbledore, the headmaster stepped up, his white beard dangled off his face. "LET THE FEAST BEGIN!" Rows and rows of food appeared on the table. Everyone took out their forks and started devouring their food. Feeling too uncomfortable at the table, Luna didn't eat during the feast. She couldn't when everyone was looking at her strangely, as if she didn't belong there. Even when pudding arrived, which was her favorite food, she passed. "Why isn't she eating her food?" a brown haired Ravenclaw whispered to her blonde friend "I don't know probably waiting for her freakish animals to give her some" The blonde girl sniggered. Not being able to handle the side comments about her. Luna stood up leaving all of the Ravenclaws, shocked. She ran outside, trying to find the Ravenclaw common room. She didn't care if she'd lost her way. She just needed to get out of there immediately.
