Cass sank to the floor, his mind racing and heart beating faster than he ever realized they could. He sat in shock for a moment before jumping up and racing out the door. He sprinted back towards the Jones residence but stopped short when he noticed someone talking to Mrs. Jones at the door. A woman stood there, obviously in distress. Both had expressions of concern and grief. "Cassian, come here," Laura told him quietly. Cass did as he was told. "Mrs. Lesley, this is Cassian," Mrs. Jones introduced. Mrs. Lesley held out a hand to shake his. Cass shook her hand trying to keep the jittery feeling from earlier under control. "Nice to meet you. I'm Audrey's aunt. I've brought some tragic news..." "Aunt Alda? What are you doing here?" Audrey walked up behind Laura and Cass froze, still panicking. "Audrey, honey...your mother was on her way home from her trip and the plane malfunctioned and crashed. She's in the hospital; in critical condition, I'm afraid," Alda whispered, choking on the last sentence. Audrey pulled her aunt into a shaky embrace, her eyes welling up. "I want to go see her," She sniffed a moment later, dashing away her tears. Alda nodded. "That's why I'm here; get your stuff packed and we can leave." Audrey nodded and went back inside. Cass waited until the coast was clear before running after her. "Audrey, I know this isn't a good time for you right now, and I'm so sorry for everything but there's some things we need to talk about..."
