I composed this song in 2024, aged 14. I adapted it from a poem that I also wrote in 2024. Sorry if it’s a little glitchy - I had to record all the different segments separately as Scratch has a time limit for recordings! It sounds best with headphones. The lyrics are shown below: Lyrics: I lost you. Your loving smile resonates in my memories, Flickering like last embers of a fire. Ashes scattered upon the crystal snow, Silent as midnight, Now you are gone. I shall never wake again, And gaze at the sky, Without crying for your love, My firefly has died. I feel you. I touch the clockwork that ticks away within shadows, Rhythmically pounding ‘longside my heart. Galloping ten thousand wild horses, My breaths are numbered. I succumb. I shall never wake again, And gaze at the sky, Without crying for your love, My firefly has died. They say the torture will abate When I close my eyes, But when I dream I dream of you, Your silenced mind. I love you. Your voice echoes in the broken fragments of my mind, Catching me, guiding me back to earth and soil. Holding me in your arms as stars unveil, I’ll follow you, To be free. My soul ebbs and flows from me, Like softly spoken words, The whispering lullabies of the breeze, Drift me into dreams. I shall never wake again, And gaze at the sky, Without soaring by your side, My phantom firefly.
