Entry for Altaria Eevee:) ——— Chapter one: Miku flew over the town, the hybrid's ears blowing in the wind. The clouds could barely stay in one shape for a heartbeat because of the wind's strength. It was a bad time for such winds. The Festival of Aether was approaching soon, and Miku was in the air all day, with a variety of last minute supplies and gift orders. She worked in the post office, and there hadn't been a new hire since last April. Her only help for these packages was a nice, though inexperienced intern, named Borage. "Ms. Amiss!" There he was now. Miku turned in the air and gently landed on the summit of a nearby hill so Borage could catch up to her. "My father wanted to send a last minute package." Borage panted. "I would deliver it myself, but you know how he gets when I leave town" Miku groaned internally. Borage's father, Horace never left his packages in the mail, but, she wouldn't let Borage know about her exasperation with his father, there was no good reason to get him involved with such petty conflicts. "Thank you! I was just about to deliver to Lumina Borough! If you caught me any later, I'd be long gone!" Miku grinned, and seeing her smile, Borage returned it. "I don't have long..." Miku looked towards the sky. the sun had already risen. She puffed out her clouds and was lifted into, and pranced in the air. If she made haste, her clients wouldn't notice her slight delay. *** "Ey!" a sharp croak sounded next to Miku. "Why're you headed to the enemy town?" Miku stared at the pokemon. It was Horace. "What's your complaint today?" Miku murmured. Horace scoffed and gave her a hard stare. "Watch it. You're already on thin ice Amiss. You think I didn't see you faffing about with that Lumina citizen." The minun snarled. Miku could hardly believe the collection of words that had just come out of Horace's mouth. She was a mailmon! Talking to her clients was part of her job! Miku glared for a second and flew off above the wall, and towards her destination. "Hey!" Horace shouted. "I'm not done with you!" The conflict between Platinum City and Lumina Burrow had existed since before Miku was born, and she honestly had no idea what drove their mutual hatred forward. *** By the time Miku had finally finished delivering her packages and chatting with neighbors, the sun had already begun to set, and she was exhausted. Wasn't much for her to do besides return home. ——— Chapter two: Miku awoke in a cold sweat. She couldn't tell what, but something was wrong. Her anticipate was activating. This early in the morning, the town was usually still, but today, there was panic. The loud murmurings of concerned citizens rung in her ears. "What's happening?" she yelped over the yammering. "There she is!" A high-pitched voice called out. It was Borage. The small 'mon ran up to her, though his steps were sluggish, seemingly from fatigue. "Miku Amiss, correct?" The local search and rescue agent, Jewelene walked up to her. Miku nodded. "It appears that Horace Campbell was missing when his son woke up." Miku's heart dropped. She had originally only seen exhaustion in Borage's eyes, but now she noticed his frown and furrowed brow. She never got along with Horace, but nobody deserves to go missing. "That's awful..." she bemoaned. Jewelene nodded. "Since Borage is a minor, he's not allowed to live on his own, but with his father missing and his mother incarcerated, he'll have to live with his god mother" Miku looked down. Borage was hugging her tightly. "Hey, hey it's ok" Miku comforted Borage. "You'll still have me, and your godmother, and your friends." Miku tried to smile to be supportive. "Miku?" Jewelene's voice sounded behind Miku. Miku turned to face the Arcanine. "Did Horace not tell you?" "Tell me what?" Miku felt awkward. What had been kept secret from her? "You're Borage's godmother." ——— Chapter three: Horace didn't trust her, why would he leave Miku with Borage? and on top of that, how come Horace had never told Miku? Miku could hardly take care of herself! How could she handle a child? Borage didn't seem as bothered. He talked all the way to work, his eyes lighter, as if a weight had been lifted off his chest. "I'm really happy you're my guardian now" he started "I love my dad, but he'd never approve of my friend." "Hm?" Miku questioned "Why not?" Borage rolled his eyes "She's from Lumina." Borage replied, direct and bluntly. "If she's from Lumina, how did you meet her?" "Oh! I threw ball over her canopy accidentally, so she had to throw it back. We played catch!" Miku giggled, but after a few seconds, she realized something. "Borage, for you to throw your ball that far into someone in Lumina's yard, you'd have to be in Lumina. Borage... did you go outside the wall?" Borage looked away, then nodded. Miku stared him in the eye for a second then gave him a hug. "Good job! now let's get to work!" So the two continued on their way to the post office. - entry end
——— Author's notes: I found it hard describing Pokemon's species in this, so Jewelene is an Arcanine, Borage is a Minun Roserade fusion, Horace is just a plain Minun, Borage's mother is a Roserade named Flo, which you wouldn't know since she doesn't show up besides offhanded mentions reference some people might not get: Anticipate is the hidden ability of Eevee. According to Bulbapedia, When a Pokémon with Anticipation enters the battle or a Pokémon gains the Ability Anticipation, it causes the Pokémon to "shudder" if an opponent has a damaging move that is super effective against the Pokémon with Anticipation, a one-hit knockout move, or Self-Destruct or Explosion. Shuddering has no actual effect, except that the presence of the Ability message is meant to provide information about possible moves the opponent might have. I decided that abilities should have uses out of battle, so I chose that it can detect when something's off. Also no Miku's not named after vocaloid star, Hatsune Miku. I chose her name because it means beautiful sky. totally not a Miku fan. Don't ask questions
