This is a little game I made to help me out with remembering the gender of words based on their endings. I thought I'd share it to help out anyone else who wants to remember this better. Usually if a word ends with an -e, it is feminine. All other endings are masculine. For example, the word dog. "Chien" (she-EH) means "dog" in French, but "chienne" (she-EN) means "female dog". Notice the -e on the end. But, like most rules, there are exceptions. This is a game I made to help me remember when a word is masculine or feminine based on the word ending. For example when a word ends in -tre, it still has an -e on the end, but it is usually masculine. Remember: Like most exceptions, there are exceptions! The best way to memorize a word's gender for sure is to memorize the word and the gender at the same time. How to play: The game will display the ending of a French word, and you have to guess if the word is masculine or feminine. You are not on a timer, so take as much time as you need! When you come to a decision, click either the "MASC." button for masculine, or the "FEM." button for feminine. If you get it wrong, you lose a point. If you get it right, you gain a point! To see your score, hover your mouse at the top of the screen. There is no hints or anything. You have to find out, by trial and error, what endings are what genders. Good luck! Try to win the game!
