~ Chapter 11 ~ The end of the school year was approaching. Ron’s rat, scabbers, had apparently been eaten by Hermione’s cat, Crookshanks. I didn’t believe it for a second, though. Crookshanks was a good cat. I woke up at night to screaming. I thought it was Ron’s voice. I threw on my robes and ran outside, to where the screaming had come from. It was Ron! He was getting dragged under the whomping willow by a giant black dog while the whomping willow swung its branches aggressively. Hermione and Harry were there, too. Hermione’ cat, Crookshanks touched a knot on the tree with his paw, and the branches stopped swinging. We went into the tunnel in the whomping willow, and found ourselves in the shrieking shack! Then Sirius black was there! He was the black dog, he was an animagus! But we found out he was innocent, with the help of our defense against the dark arts teacher, Professor Lupin. Sirius turned out to be Harry’s godfather. He offered for Harry to come live with him after his name was cleared, and to be honest, I felt jealous. Harry was so lucky to have a godfather. Someone who cared about him. I had no one at all. Harry was going to escape the Dursleys and live with Sirius and I was going to have to stay with them until I was an adult. For the first time, I wondered about my parents. Who were they? Why did they abandon me? I was pondering this, when something started happening. Hermione had previously revealed to us that Professor Lupin was a werewolf, and it just happened to be a full moon that very night. Great. He started transforming. It was terrifying. Thankfully, Sirius turned into his animagus form and protected us, and we made it back to the castle safely. We all went to the hospital wing, and I fell asleep there sitting in a chair next to Ron’s bed. His leg had been broken. It had been a wild night.
