Okay, sorry for the blank project. I just thought about this and I think I've always known this but I just fully realized it. In so much media targeted to improve self-esteem, we see things like "You are valid." "Your existence is okay." Essentially, "You are a human being who is just as inherently not bad as all the other humans." And so many of us, myself included, have internalized the idea that we are not people deserving of the respect and love we give others for existing. And while I like promoting "you are human and that is good" instead of "you are better than the other humans; they are bad" it does raise the point that a lot of us don't value ourselves as much as we value random people we bump into on the street. This especially affects people who feel the effects of bigotry (which is everyone, even non-"minorities*") because we are constantly told who to be, that our existence is wrong, and idk I'm kind of talking in circles, but what I'm trying to say is, physically, mentally, you are a human being. Treat yourself like one.** *We say minorities, but "minorities" actually outnumber "majorities" both altogether and in multiple demographics sooooo... **I am well aware this is easier said than done. If you need to vent or talk, or if there is any other way I can help, you can talk to me anytime on this or another project or my pf.
