Red fading into pink fading into orange hitting the horizon. She sat on the hill that led into the small town of Lake Placid, thoughts running through her head. The words people shouted at her, the spotlight in the investigation room, the rumors. They were going to drive her crazy. Or was she already crazy? That was something Ivory couldn't figure out. -i hate you a latte (chapter two?)- Ivory sat in the small coffee shop sipping her espresso, flipping through the case files she had got from the police station. The shop door opened with a chime and closed with a chime as another visitor entered. Ivory tugged her red hat down over her head more each time the door chimed, for she feared someone would recognize her. What she would do to be able to get away, live someplace, where no-one knew her. Where no-one knew she was the prime suspect for the case of her sister’s murder. Ivory checked her phone, nothing. What did she suspect that her sister’s boyfriend would jump at the chance to help his dead girlfriend’s little sister prove she was innocent? Well kind of. Ivory had been called delusional several times and she was starting to believe she was. -the answer (chapter two?- Ivory pulled her Sherlock Holmes style tan coat closer to her as she shivered in the cool autumn breeze, exiting the coffee shop. She walked the two blocks to her house, popping in the door real quick to drop the case back in her bedroom before heading to her boyfriend’s house. She knocked on the door to the small yellow house Noah lived in with his dad and aunt. Teresa opened the door with a smile, “Hello Ivory!” Ivory smiled back as Teresa motioned for her to come in. “Noah is in his bedroom. Would you like tea or coffee? Water?” Teresa was always a comfort to Ivory, one of the few people who believed her that she was innocent. “I’m good thank you, I just came from Dan's coffee shop,” Ivory hung her coat and hat on the coat rack and waved to Doug before rushing up the stairs. Noah’s bedroom door was open and she could hear the football game playing on the TV. She stopped in his doorway waiting for him to notice her. Noah looked over and gave a half-hearted smile. “What’s wrong?” Ivory asked, crossing the room to join him sitting on the floor. “Ivory, I think we should break up.” Ivory’s world shattered with those five simple words. “Listen, it's not you. It’s me.” The classic lie slipped from his mouth and without thinking Ivory slapped him across the cheek, tears rushing from her eyes. Noah gasped, grabbing her wrists, restraining her. She spat in his face, face crossed with anger and sadness. “You really are crazy,” Noah said, dropping her hands. Ivory stood up, backing away. “Why, Noah? Why?” she was sobbing as she ran down the stairs out the door forgetting her coat and hat. She made it a block before everything caught up to her and she collapsed to the sidewalk, curling up into a ball. She was cold, she was angry, she was heartbroken. Ivory had no clue she sat there, crying, in the middle of the sidewalk. She didn’t care who saw, everyone already thought she was crazy. Her train of thought, train of sadness, was snapped as someone laid a hand on her back. She flinched, turning with a sudden movement. She made eye contact with a pair of deep blue eyes that sucked her in, a pair of ocean blue eyes that made her feel like the strongest person alive, a pair of soft blue that made her feel loved. The moment was broken as she realized who sat in front of her. Avernus Cage, her sister’s boyfriend, the quiet sarcastic boy who had always driven her crazy, the only other main suspect for Lavender’s case, the “cutest French boy” that everyone swooned over, the boy with the blue eyes. She flushed, “Oh my gosh I didn’t realize it was you at first.” Aver smiled, “Got you blushing already, huh?” Ivory gaped. “Just kidding, just kidding,” Aver laughed, raising his hands in surrender. Ivory scoffed, “I forgot how utterly annoying you are.” Aver smirked cockily, “Yet you still texted me asking for help?” Ivory groaned, “I regret that immensely.” “Too late, I’m helping.”
