- - “You want to talk?” “No thanks.” I close the door to Laila’s room. “I don’t get it. Did I do something wrong? I’m trying to comfort her but she just doesn’t want me too.” “Giver her space.” Valley answers, “Laila probably just doesn’t want to talk right now. Or maybe just forget what happened entirely, that’s what I’d want.” I nod. “What happened anyways?” Valley just shrugs. - “Hell- hello?” Ollie looked around for any angel to talk to. “Hey, sir? Your an angel, right?” Erin looks behind to see him. “Sure right I am! Whats the problem?” “No problems, just…I have a sister who I think is in hell…is there any way I could contact the people down there like I can with the people on earth?” “What, of course not!” Ollie stares at Erin in shock at how fast he answered. “..what? Why not?” “Well, uh, they might influence you into doing things or somethin like that…” Erin trails off. “Uh, yeah. You can’t contact the sinners in hell.” “Thats not really…fair.” “What do you mean?” “I mean, even though their sinners, we should still be able to talk to them. The whole reason the phone was made was to contact loved ones, right? Why is there none for the loved ones in hell?” “…Look uhh- hell is hell, heaven is heaven. Sinners shouldn’t be able to call the saints!” “…what even counts as a sin?…uh- wait- if there was a person who did a lot of crimes, but it was justified? Like someone killing another because they were abusing them?” Erin thinks for a bit. “…they’d still go to hell. Crime can never be justified.” Ollie stares at Erin, who stares back. “…doesn’t that sound wrong?” “…maybe.” - - I sit at the beach of hell, staring at the water. It’s night, and it feels like I’m the only one awake. “AH!” What the-?! “Finally got it!” Lucifer began, holding my halo. “You…” I glance behind me. My wings… my- my face- the eyes- no no! “How did you know?!” “What a stupid question. Your eyes- only angels have that shade of blue. Your hair has angelic bands in it, hell, you didn’t even think to change the colour of your hair!” He hisses. “I- uh-“ “Now, I have a question for you.” He points his spear at me. “Who are you really? Why are you here? Your the 5th rank. Does that mean…” he trails off, staring at the extra eyes on my face that appeared. “…I am Vixen. The apprentice of the 2nd knowledge keeper, Deria.” “Deria already stepped up..huh.” He pauses. “You don’t look like a fallen angel… if you are here because of the revolution, I’d be happy to make you one.” “No wait! Please I- I don’t want to hurt you!” “Do you want to stop the revolution? Make Laila one of ‘its’ new voices?” “No! No- Not at all! I don’t want to do anything anymore! I understand why you want to do this and I want to help!” Lucifer stops, staring at me. He lowers the spear, a look of interest and surprise on his face. “…are you lying?” I shake my head. “If you are, I’ll make sure to help everyone know your secret before feeding you to the other sinners.” “I promise you, I’m not!” After a minute or two of silence, he sits down in front of me. “Sorry for being so harsh. I was just making sure.” I nod once more. “…what did the others do to you?” He questions softly. “What?” “What did the angels do to you?” He asks again. “The pain of the sinners can only be fully understood if you were treated the same. So what did they do?” “Well, nothing. Just hearing Laila talk about what happened to her when she was alive and to see her poor soul in hell is enough.” “…oh.” “…can I have my halo back now please?” “Oh right.” Lucifer chuckles. “Here!” - “Ollie Vincent. Twin brother of Laila Vincent.” “So thats what he was talking about? Ah-“ Erin grits his teeth. “Mm.” Deria closes the book, staring at Erin with a cold stare. “And he wants to contact her?” “Yes…he told me some things, and now I kind of think we should have a way to-“ “No.” She bluntly states. “We wouldn’t want humans running around being controlled by monsters in heaven do we?” “Well- he- he said somethin like “if theres a thing to contact loved ones in earth why isn’t there one for the ones in hell?” And- and- “It’s not fair for sinners not to be able to talk to their loved ones” or some [**] like that-“ “Erin.” Erin looks up at Deria, his heart almost stopping in fear. “Uh. Yes ma’am?” “This is how angels fall. Questioning the way saints and sinners are tested, letting sin into your mind. Hell is hell and heaven is heaven, remember that.” “But-…that…can’t be fair…I mean—I’m just suggesting that-“ “ ‘It’ put these rules in place.” “…but-“ “I am the extension of ‘its’ eyes. I know what is right and wrong.” “..now go.” Deria shoos him away. “Go to the other guardian angels.”
