By Friday, the water was up to the castle doors. No one could go outside without being soaked. Teachers applied enchantments but Coral and her friends guessed they wouldn’t hold. Coral felt nervous when her classes were almost over. Her, Whitney, Flynn, and Lainey agreed to meet in the library to discuss where they’d begin to look for the purpose of the flooding. At the library, they sat around a small circular table. Lainey held a small notepad. “What clues do we have?” she asked. “Well, the giant squid is being very aggressive, that could be something important…” Coral pointed out. Lainey scribbled in her notepad. “Magical enchantments only last a bit, like two or three days max,” said Whitney. Lainey wrote faster. “That’s all, I think,” Flynn said. Lainey’s quill drooped sadly as she glared at her cousin. “Really? Nothing else? Even I can think of something!” “Oh, um….” Flynn chuckled embarrassedly. “Professor Wyliows —the witch who teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts — said that any Transfiguration spells or charms don’t work…only curses,” chirped Whitney. “She did?” Flynn asked. “Wait!” Cried Coral, “This means it must have been powerful Dark Magic, equal to Voldemort’s power!” “But he’s gone now, isn’t he? Who could’ve done it?” Whitney noticed. “A follower?” Lainey proposed. “No, more like a- a…..wannabe!” Said Flynn. “Sort of, not really…” Coral said. “This is hardly enough clues for us to start guessing…” Lainey said, pointing to her list on her notepad. “We could go into the lake and try and look…?” Flynn suggested. “And how are we supposed to do that?” Lainey spat. “We could ask Peeves for help…!” Coral chirped. “Peeves?” Whitney echoed, “he’s not gonna help—OH! He could distract any teacher by the doors!” “Exactly!” They all tiptoed to the door to outside and waved their hands. It must have been a signal because Peeves the Poltergeist swooped down on Professor Archpurk, who was on guard duty. “Hey! Go away, Peeves!” She spat as she ducked to avoid a dungbomb. Peeves chucked a water balloon, which splattered all over the Potions teacher’s robes. She chased Peeves as he floated away, singing a rude song. “Quick!” Coral ran to the door and opened it, a little bit of water came inside, which Whitney cleared up with her wand. All four of them waded out into the water. “Bubble-Head Charms!” Lainey demanded. Flynn, Whitney, and Lainey performed perfect Bubble-Head Charms and Coral mumbled, “I can’t do that yet….” Flynn cast the Bubble-Head Charm over her, and they all dove deeper into the water. It was a beautiful yet horrible sight. It was the Hogwarts grounds, except water engulfed it. Coral and her friends swam there for a minute, each one of them wondering how they were going to find any clues here….
I think this is one of the shorter chapters…. Sorry about that. Hope you still liked it!
