-Issa -She/her -Withdrawn, doesn’t like forming connections, enjoys contemplating on her own. —————————story time!——————————— Be careful when wandering the woods, young one, for they say the Haunted One still lurks in the shadows… Once there was a small village that stood surrounded by the shadow forest. There was only one road in and out, and few travelled it, for even the most well-lit path could contain the forest’s creatures… Issa was still a child when she went into the shadow forest. All the children had been raised to fear them, but she was too curious to heed their words. Those that entered the woods, never returned. At first, the woods were peaceful. They were quiet and still, and sunlight peeked through gaps in the leaves. Issa chased butterflies and startled frogs, splashing after them in puddles. But as she ventured deeper and farther into them, the sun no longer found its way to the forest floor. There were no butterflies or frogs, and strange creaks could be heard around her. The shadows were deeper and longer, and only an eerie green glow allowed her to see at all. After many hours, she finally stumbled into a clearing. It was clear of undergrowth and the rocks that kept tripping her up, and in the center stood a massive pillar of gleaming black rock. Embedded in this monolith was a glowing green eye that swiveled to stare at Issa. The shadows that had been following her all day suddenly swirled closer, surrounding her in a flurry of darkness. Issa shrieked and tried to swat them away, but her paw simply went through them. She sprinted blindly away, tripping her way through the woods. When at last the shadows cleared and she reached a puddle, she glanced down at herself. Were the shadows still there? Because her face… Issa gasped, examining the shadowy goop that had fused with her. How had this happened? What would this mean for her future? She started to run, no longer feeling tired. As sunlight started to appear again and butterflies flew, she reached the edge of the shadow forest, what no other lost child had been able to do before. Below Issa, the villagers stared up at her in shock. A moment later, someone screamed: “Shadow monster!” The whole village was teeming with anger, fear, and repulsion. Tears pricked Issa’s eyes. They didn’t recognize her! And as rocks started to be hurled towards her, she fled into the woods again. They say she still roams the woods to this day, the Haunted One. Lost souls will find themselves drawn towards her mysterious powers, but they bring nothing but sorrow. Best not to enter the woods, for those that return from them return changed.
