This isn’t my best work, I’m having a hard time liking what I write. I want to write good songs. I want to write good poetry. But to me, it’s not enough. I’m also open to people singing this :) This is about my struggle with identity and friendship. Making new friends can be really hard for me, but I’m getting better at it. I also wrote a song called undercover spy, which was the second song I ever wrote :) it’s a similar topic if you struggle with this kinda thing too
Surrounded in a hall full of words, None of them seem to say my own, I see everyone else’s eyes locked in another souls, I wanna share a glance like that too. Surrounded in a corner I call my own, Maybe if someone was by my left I wouldn’t feel as alone, Maybe if I knew more about her, I’d back away, But I don’t like the things that come out of my mouth. And if I only loved me too, I’d get some of that love back, Because when that funny soul comes over and sits next to me, I just don’t know how to laugh, And if I didn’t feel these hopeless emotions, I would mean what I’d say, And not hide under this little rain cloud of shame, But it’s hard, it’s hard sometimes, Not knowing who you are, When everyone else knows the person by their side. And maybe, if I had a better wardrobe, I’d be able to call myself cool, Walking around the room, Maybe I’d write a few numbers or two, But I don’t like the fabric that sits on my skin, And these eyes that rest on my face, As I apply that pink shade on my lips, They say I’m vain, complaining this way, When my wish is to look like them too. And maybe, if I wasn’t so lost, I wouldn’t change my tone, Anxiety matted deep in my bones, Maybe if I knew more about her, I’d know more about me too, But I don’t like the things that come out of my mouth. And if only I loved me, I’d get some of that love back, Because when I see something beautiful, It takes away the beauty I see, Say it’s robbery, this identity thief, Because if I didn’t feel these emotions, I’d mean what I say, And no longer hide under this cloud of shame, But it’s hard, it’s hard sometimes, Not knowing who you are, When everyone knows the person by their side. Surrounded in a hall full of words, They think it’s the whole world, Three years is a long time, But it’s not eternity, Because they’ll go, they’ll leave, And we’re all lost, looking for a soul to hold onto, Thinking the exact same thing. And it’s hard, it’s really hard sometimes, Not knowing who you are, When everyone has a different person, To look into their eyes, When everyone has a different person, To rely when they want to cry, When everyone has a different person, Standing by their side.
