But, Riven was receiving dreams and visions of spirits guiding them to the outside. When they step into the sun’s light, they see the true nature of their surroundings. They were in purgatory, and Riven is the reason why. Regaining their colors at this realization, they go out to explore the world to find the creator of this purgatory. But the dundundun twist is that Riven is the entity that created the purgatory. They created it to trap mortals who had been going against their will. Their fellow deities found their actions indefensible, and they were sent to live out the punishment they inflicted on others.
