When you have friends that care about you. Couldn't be me. *cries* “WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THIS PAST MONTH?” Casey practically screamed at him. “With other frien-” Charlie was cut off by Delilah’s death stare. “Let me guess, August. The popular boy that is straighter than a ruler,” Delilah’s words stung, but she had a point. “Charlie, I hate to be that person but he’s been at this school for a month and he already has a girlfriend. You have no shot with him.” Charlie’s face was redder than a beet. Those were the thoughts he had been juggling for weeks. “I’ll get over him, just give me time.” Charlie tried to defend himself, but he didn’t stand a chance against his two stubborn best friends, who had the same shared brain cell, mind you. “Charlie, we tell you these things because we love you,” Casey looked at him with understanding, “But you can’t just ‘get over’ someone I would know. So as long as August doesn’t take over your life we will do everything in our power to get you a boyfriend. We just miss you.” Casey opened her arms for a hug. Casey was like an older sister to Charlie, which was much appreciated. Charlie was an only child, and his homophobic and transphobic dad wasn’t exactly the best company. He spent a lot of nights at Casey’s. One time an old friend of his mentoned his trans-ness with his dad around, and he was kicked out for about a week. His dad did his best to ‘make it up’ to him by taking him to his favorite bookstore and buying every book he asked for. But his father never called him by the correct name or pronouns and made the most transphobic jokes Charlie had ever heard. So he confided in Casey and Delilah, and then gave him hugs and comforted him. “Thanks Casey,” Charlie muttered into her shoulder. Delilah hated being left out on hugs so she naturally joined in with a bear hug that might have suffocated if he was in that hug any longer. “Thanks, I really needed that. I love you gays.” Charlie said as Delilah and Casey let him go. “We love you too.”
