Professor Trelawney had passed out each person a teacup filled with tea. Harry examined the teacup, there was nothing odd or weird about it. "Now what you will need to do is drink the whole cup of tea, and then your partner will read the signs. Go on, drink up!" Trelawney instructed. Harry picked up his teacup. "Cheers!" Ron said. Harry, Ron and Hermione's teacups clinked together. harry drank down his tea in about five minutes time. "Here, Ron, switch with me," Harry handed Ron his empty teacup, with nothing but dried tea leaves. Ron handed Harry his in return. Harry took the cup and began to flip through the book. He didn't recognize much so he didn't really bother deciphering it. Harry looked up to find Trelawney prowling around the tables. "Ron! Quickly whip something up from what you see. I got nothing!" Harry whispered. Ron kicked Harry's shin in acknowledgment. Trelawney came over to them. "What have you three come up with?" She asked in the same distant and misty voice as before. "Well, I see childhood suffering," Ron said, pointing at something in the book. "and the sun, so. . .You ought to suffer and enjoy it." Trelawny took the cup from him. She gasped and dropped it. "Good gracious! You have the Grim!" She squealed. "What does the Grim mean?" Seamus asked. "I got it here!" Lavender said. Most of the class got up and crowded around her. "It means, you're going to die a brutal death." She recited from the passage. Harry gulped and picked up the cup. Hermione got up and slammed her book on the table. "This is a boat load of rubbish! All it is, is tea leaves that happen to form the shape of a dog!" And with that Hermione stormed out of the room. "Hermione!" Harry called. Ron leaned over. "At least we didn't have to say it." He whispered. Harry examined the cup more closely. Could it be true, could he soon die a brutal death?
