I burned this tardigrade into a wooden cylinder in 2024, aged 14. (Probably my strangest art project yet!!!) For those who do not know, a tardigrade is a near-microscopic organism, also known as a ‘water bear’ or ‘moss piglet’, that is an extremophile (can withstand extremely harsh environments). I saw one using a microscope recently, and though many may disagree, I find them absolutely adorable! Tardigrade fun facts: - They are the first animal to survive the freezing vacuum of space - They can curl and dry up into a tardigrade ‘tun’ when the environment is harsh or there is a lack of water.
