Hi! I decided I was going to post a story I've been working on! Its called Lost in the Dark (LITD). The main character Sage has seen a lot in this fantasy world he is in- with terrors unimaginable. He had seen people close to him be killed by such terrors. These terrors aren't monsters- the people in this realm call them shadows. To them, they're all born in the light. Pure innocence, pure safety. Then, the shadows took over. Such shadows are from dark thoughts and evil intent squandered- it had to come out somehow. In this world, being lost to the dark is succumbing to the personification of these thoughts- and Sage is starting to lose whatever is holding him together. This whole storyline is an extended metaphor, some of which is explained in the notes and credits. Sometimes I'll drop some poetry at the end of the chapter to help move the story along!
There was a time when I was in the light. But then I got lost to myself- a deep darkness. Life is like a circle, yet not as you may think- we are free to move around the inside of it. We're all born in the center. That close together, we can fight at times, but those fights are too small to matter. As we get older, we choose a direction to go- what you would like to reach on the outside edge, if you will. Sometimes the line you're trying to draw is a hard one to keep straight, and you seek out an easier life. You veer off towards whatever you desire. You don't belong there, but some people get trapped. The line you draw becomes crooked. A crooked life means a crooked person. _______________________ JOURNAL ENTRY #1 I don't belong here. I simply don't belong. Where Should I Go? The light is the past the dark is the future of which I have no desire to go. Stay here, stay put- nothing will ever change. Nothing can change when you lose t o u c h with reality.
