welcome to word wars for swc july 2024! good luck, everybody >:D ↱ [...] ↴ what are word wars? word wars are a lot like writing sprints! you compete against another person to see who can write the most words in a set amount of time. ↱ [...] ↴ how to do a word war just comment on this project with: • your cabin • your wpm (you can use www.typingtest.com to find this) • how long you want the word war to last (most word wars are 2-5 minutes, but you can make them as long or short as you’d like) • whether you’d prefer to use a prompt or not (see below) • whether you’d prefer to show proof of your writing or not after you’ve commented this, you can go through existing comments and find someone with compatible preferences and a similar wpm - if you can't find anyone, just wait for someone to reply to yours. after you and the person you're warring both agree on a duration (and a prompt if you choose to use one), you each write on your own and report back with how many words you wrote. whoever wrote more words can comment in the main cabin that they won a word war to claim their points. if you wrote with a prompt, make sure to mention that as well for extra points! ↱ [...] ↴ points the winner of a word war earns 100 points for their cabin! regardless of if you’ve won or not, you can earn an additional 25 points if you use a prompt in a war. if you’re in tctwnw (thriller) you won’t be able to earn points from a word war, but you’re still welcome to participate in them! keep in mind that both of these points can only be claimed once per day (utc time). ↱ [...] ↴ prompts if you’d like, you can choose to war with a prompt that you and the person you’re warring would both use for your writing! here is a list of prompts, along with the people who suggested them - these will be changed every week: @ButterPopcorn8 - "Oh my, what a plot twist you were" @PixelDucko - "Dear diary, today I finally figured it out." @violent-measures - "Unfortunately, I didn’t have a flyswatter big enough." @lilyjen - "Are you trying to tell me that you ATE the very special important worldsaving dimensional changing magical mangoes that I VERY SPECIFICALLY told you not to?' 'uh... yes?'" ↱ [...] ↴ who can you war? you can war anyone you’d like who's participating in swc, including your allies and people from your own cabin. however, you can only receive points by warring people from other cabins. you may war people from tctwnw (thriller) for points! ↱ [...] ↴ what can you write? any literary writing counts! it can be as bland as ‘skog sat on the mat. blahaj sat next to him. skog got off the mat.’ but you can’t just write something like ‘a a a a a a’. as a rule of thumb, only things that would normally count towards your overall word goal can count for word wars. ↱ [...] ↴ after you win comment that you’ve won in the main cabin! leaders won’t be checking the comments of this project. make sure to include if you’ve used a prompt, to claim the additional points. linking to the comment chain of your war to show proof is optional. you can only win one war per day (utc time) - after this, you must wait until the next day to earn more points, although you can continue doing wars regardless. ↱ [...] ↴ other questions? ask me or any other host for clarification! please do so on our profiles, not the comments of this project, as they could get lost here. ↱ [...] ↴ credits! - canva for the thumbnail - description based heavily off all the past word war makers! - for the idea of having a list of prompts - the wonderful POLAR BEARS for collecting & putting together the prompts! thank you all <3
