How to play dungeons and dragons (276 words) Welcome, dear reader, to a wonderful tutorial on how to play the greatest RPG of all time: Dungeons and Dragons. If you want to join the nerd club and participate in playing D&D, you’ve come to the right spot. The first, and utterly most important thing you will need, is a group of friends to play with. This, by far, is the hardest step. Luckily, there are probably a good number of people that you see every day that play this game. If they don’t, most of them know someone that does. Once you have a group of 3-6 people (more is fine, but it will be more difficult to manage), you need to appoint someone to be the dungeon master (or the DM, for short). The DM is responsible for “running” the game. The dungeon master should pick up the official /Dungeon Master’s Guide/ book. The rest of the players will need the /Player’s Handbook/. The PHB will tell you the rules of the game, as well as give you a guide on how to create a character. The next part, and possibly even harder than the very first step, is to find a time when the whole group is free to play. When and /if/ you do, bring your character sheets and /Player’s Handbook/ to wherever the group decided upon and get playing! The general format of how the game works is this: 1. The DM describes the environment/situation 2. The players decide what they are going to do 3. The DM reports how their actions played out 4. Repeat! Congratulations, dear reader, as you are now prepared to embark on a great adventure!
