CHAPTER TWO “Firs’ years over here!” someone called through the night. As me and many others, I’m guessing that are in my year, walked over to him. He was large. “I heard he’s part giant,” someone whispered to the left of me. ‘I thought Aunt Narcissa said he got fired’ I thought to myself. Well whatever he was, he was huge, and he lead us towards the towering castle. Once we got inside, a woman stood up and guided us to the front of some giant room or hall thing. “When I call your name, please come up towards me and the Sorting Hat,” she ordered. “Uh, Diggory, Amelia.” ‘I can’t believe it worked… oh, Delphi you’re the best’ I thought. “Obviously, SLYTHERIN!” ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes’ I found myself thinking as I trotted towards the Slytherin table. “Fernsby, Coral.” “HUFFLEPUFF!” “Harper, Celestial.” “How about SLYTHERIN!” “Hufflepuff-Lupin, Aiden.” “Hmm… RAVENCLAW!” it said, as there were many cheers from the Ravenclaw table. “Lapis, Hope.” “Ah, RAVENCLAW!” “Lovegood-Scamander, Eliza.” “This is too easy. SLYTHERIN!” “Lupin, Sarah.” “Ah, right,” the dirty hat said, “how about— HUFFLEPUFF!” There was a great applause from the Hufflepuff table. “Malfoy, Delphine.” “I know exactly where to put you. HUFFLEPUFF!” the hat bellowed, as noise came from where the Lupin girl sat down. ‘It’s probably about time for Scorpius to get called up’ I found myself thinking. And sure enough, “Malfoy, Scorpius,” the woman said. “Aha! SLYTHERIN!” it cried. “Potter, Albus.” “Ahhh… much like your mother and father, eh? How about… SLYTHERIN!” the Sorting Hat called out. “Potter, Calista.” “Again, like your parents, but closer than your brother. GRYFFINDOR!” “Slytherin, Salazara.” There was a great amount of murmurs as she walked up. ‘There’s nothing wrong with her if she’s related to Slytherin.’ I was thinking. “GRYFFINDOR!” ‘How?’ “Wood, Jerrie.” “Hmm… maybe, HUFFLEPUFF!” “Wood, Xander.” “GRYFFINDOR!” it howled. “Zabini, Ashley.” “Ah, SLYTHERIN!” When the rest of the first year people were sorted, there was a large feast, and— I really don’t want to admit it— great deserts. When the woman who put that filthy hat on our heads was finished, the plates cleared away, and the “prefects,” which I think they misspelled “perfect” on their badges, lead us to our dormitories. It took only a few minutes to get to the dormitories, which were under some lake thing. “Hey, aren’t you the Diggory girl?” a girl asked me, tucking her long, light brown hair behind her left ear, when I got to the dorms. “What do you want?” I replied, remembering how Delphi found a way to make my surname “Diggory” on the list of names instead of “Riddle,” which no one at this school knows. “I don’t know what you mean. I was just asking if you were the Amelia Diggory girl at the sorting.” “No, I’m a seventh year,” I returned sarcastically. “What’s with you?” said the girl, agitatedly. “Maybe you should ask yourself that same question. Most people can tell when to leave someone alone and when to speak to them.” “Well, either way, my name’s Celestial Harper, and I won’t say your name if you’re going to act like this.” “You don’t have the authority to tell me how to act towards you and how to not, Harper.” “Whatever,” she finished, walking over to her bed. ‘What a great start to the year,’ I thought bitterly to myself. ‘Owl Delphi tomorrow morning, that’s what she’d want,’ I was thinking, as I heard her voice in my head saying, “Owl me as many times as you can, and do it anytime you want. I would also like to get some information on how to do… /it/.” Another girl walked into the dormitory. Great. Just what I needed when I wanted to be by myself. “Oh, hi, who are you two?” the other girl asked. “Celestial Harper, but you can call me Lesty or something,” replied Harper. ‘Ooh, they’re on first-name-terms already are they? And nicknames too,” I thought to myself mocking the two of them. “Who’re you?” the second questioned me. I ignored her. I saw Harper whisper something into the second girl’s ear. “Well, if you’re not gonna say your name, then I’m Ashley Zabini.” Zabini? Wasn’t that one of Aunt Narcissa’s son’s school friend’s surname? “Wait, who are your parents?” I asked Zabini. “Er— Blaise Zabini and Pansy Parkinson.” “Oh okay.” Yeah, those were Draco’s old friends, alright. The Zabini girl was /so/ much better than Harper, and I don’t like anyone besides Delphi and Aunt Narcissa…. But they’re my only friends so yeah. After a few minutes of talking, mostly Zabini and Harper speaking amongst themselves, we all went to bed. ‘Write to Delphi tomorrow,’ I found myself thinking. ‘Tell her about this.’
