/!\ these are MY opinions, not yours. hate me or not idc but don't start drama with me cause I'm not interested in fighting with uneducated, idiotic big backs /!\ asian fishing : When someone who is not Asian, tries to look like someone of Asian descent. rcta / ecta : changing your race / ethnicity These terms have been blowing up a lot on social media, and I feel the need to speak about them. It's also popular on scratch as well, which isn't good. Asian fishing is when someone tries to "look Asian" or "fit into the Asian standards". It's disrespectful, especially to the people who are from the race you're transitioning to. Of course, when they say "Asian" they don't mean India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, or any other south-Asian country, they're talking about east-asian countries, specifically Japan, China, and Korea. They romanticize the culture, the countries, and the people. They set unrealistic and toxic standards for others and even hate other countries or cultures. They also tend to focus on the food or aesthetics, completely ignoring other aspects of the race. east-Asians have been receiving such heavy amounts of hate and these wannabe Koreans are making it seem like it's easy to grow up in an Asian household. As an Asian, this is disgusting and stupid. I've even gotten hate from rcta's/ecta's and Asian fishers for being the "dirty", "smelly" and "ugly" Asian instead of the "aesthetic" "beautiful" and "better" Asians. I normally don't take hate that seriously, but this hurt badly. If any south asians have also received this type of hate, don't let it get to you, cause the people hating aren't even asian to begin with, they're freaking 10 year old iPad kids that saw a Blackpink Jennie fan cam and suddenly went from American to Korean. Everyone, no matter their race or ethnicity, is beautiful and unique. This has been blowing up on tt as well. Teens changing their race, which then leads to them telling their parents and getting grounded, complaining and whining about their birthgivers not supporting rcta. Well, what did you expect? for them to go "omg olivia- i mean Hwa-young i support you!!!!!! Idc if you're korean i still wuve you!!!!<333" after carrying you around for 9 months, going through so much pain to give birth to you, and teaching you to respect your own culture, just for you to change it because you watched business proposal ?? Goofy ahs behaviour. Your race / ethnicity is something to be proud of. Acknowledge it, recognize it, and embrace it, because there are people out there that were never able to learn about theirs, or people that might have lost their connection to their roots because they were never taught about it. I grew up with a family that taught me and helped me learn about my ethnicity, and I am so grateful they did because I appreciate it and understand the importance of being yourself. I know it can be tricky to see all these pretty, skinny, and whitewashed idols on tv and not look like them, but, you aren't uglier than them just because they're Chinese and you're not. It's not just a language or a country, your ethnicity is a gift from god. Embrace it or not, you'll always be stuck with your ethnicity, so appreciate it before you regret not doing that in the future. has made a project about asian fishing, so you could also check that out if you'd like !! I'm sorry if i offended anyone. As I stated at the start, these are my opinions that I wanted to share. <3
